Hotel Generations Riviera Maya

The service at this resort is phenomenal. We were a large group for spring break and the staff went above and beyond to accommodate us with everything scheduling transportation to scheduling excursions.

We went to Generations in February and July of this year and our experiences were awesome! Beautiful setting, excellent service, and a great time had by all. Our butler service from Luiz, Gerardo, and Israel was top notch (my kids especially love Luiz and were excited to see him again on our 2nd trip). Relaxing massages, quality meals, hours of pool and beach time... just wonderful all around. Friends and family who traveled with us agree. We've already booked another trip back!

We have been traveling to Mexico for vacation for 25 years and we have stayed at many hotels. We have had some good and some bad experiences but it was an excellent experience at Generations. The 2 different times that we went we had 2 of the most amazing butlers. Diego and Luiz were the best butlers we have ever had. They went above and beyond to take care of us during our stay. They were definitely on top of their game. As for the rest of Generations, it is beautiful, clean, amazing staff and amazing food. We love that it is simple and easy to get around. Also, the pool is amazing and huge, we love the bottom floor because of the swim out, but upstairs are great as well and with a beautiful view. We will definitely be booking at Generations again and again.

We were spoiled at Generations Rivera Maya. Such a beautiful property and our room was so clean and nice. We got to pick out our pillows and the fragrance we wanted in our room upon arrival. We had a gorgeous swim out room with a jacuzzi. The restaurant on the property were fabulous . We had excellent service from our butlers Gerard and Pablo. They were always there to help. From lining up our dinner reservations each night to booking our massage at the spa. They would even leave yummy chocolate in our room each evening. Anywhere we needed to be on the property they were there with a golf cart to pick us up. We miss being there already. Can’t wait to return to Generations in the near future!!

I would not come back even if it was free.  Now that we have been to a number of all-inclusive resorts these past few years, I can honestly say this one is the worst one of them all.  We're here for my niece's wedding and because we have kids, we stayed at Generations while those without kids stayed at El Durado.  First off, is it hard to provide water at the lobby while checking in?  It would be nice after a long flight.  Check in did not take long and we were impressed with the size of the room.  We had two queen beds and there was another space with a sofa and another TV.  The balcony was spacious overlooking the beach.  Here's where it goes bad.  After settling in, we went to buffet to finally get some food and there were no food.  How can you be out of food?  They told us that there will be more coming.  Not only that, the buffet was small and didn't not have a lot of options.  The quality of food was also horrible.  Things were dry and overcooked.  Lets talk about food service at the beach and pool.  Well...there isn't any!  Again...never experienced this before and this is one of the perks of being at any resort. We had to pack up and go to the restaurants to have lunch.  There was no food stations where you can grab food and take back to your area.  One day we went to the buffet for lunch and it was closed, so we tried the Palms and they were packed and he didn't even tell us the wait time.  We decided to go back to our room and order room service (btw...it takes about an hour for your food to arrive).  Sitting in our hotel room waiting for food is not what we expected.  The beach...not the white sand beaches that you'll find in Cancun.  Bring your water shoes as you'll walk on rocks and sea shells.  Since it was the slow season, the cabanas were available at no charge.  You're basically stuck at the resort as it isn't really walking distance to anything.  It's at least a 15 minute car ride to town and 30 minutes from the airport. There are some positives about the resort.  The kid's play area was nice and plenty of things for them to do.  Most of the staff were nice.  Julian, one of the shuttle drivers was never nice and helpful.  One of the waitress at the buffet as well.  We went to one of the nightly entertainment and it was in a small theater.  The performance was entertaining.  I did feel bad though because if it wasn't for our group, there may only be four people in the audience.  The best day for us was at the Nickelodeon Water Park.  At least we can eat at the pool and foodbwas actually decent.  Again, we expected a lot more especially when it's at a "5 Star" hotel.  Compared to other resorts we've been to, this one ranks the lowest for us.  I'm writing this while waiting for our food in our room.  Two more days and I cant wait to get back home.

Really disappointed by the 2000+ blocks on the beach, when we complained they called it an artificial reef, but it is so badly looked after 5 foot high concrete blocks are on the beach. Not the beach holiday with water sports we wanted. Please see the photos
