Jungle Lodges and Resorts- Sakrebyle Elephant Camp

We have stayed at this property before. We have stayed even at other jungle lodges before, but this elephant camp jungle lodge was horrible. The food was ice cold, they have no consideration towards kids, they don't even make efforts to warm the food for kids. Their main agenda is only to clear they dinning area and clear all the food. The food quality is pathetic and horrible. They don't take soft copy of ID card for check in process, they need the hard copy which was very irritating as they were behind us when we were having dinner as their dinner timing is only from 8:30 to 9:30. We had just come to the property by 9 and our kids were hungry. When asked for boiled eggs they refused to give. I know it's a govt owned property and they give a damn about it. Only request for parents with small kids like mine, please carry food before entering the property. Their brekfast timing is from 8 to 8:30 that's it. I can always touch the elephant by buying the tickets from the ticketing counter, there is no need to stay at this property. They better do something about the food and the attitude of the staff.

We stayed at Sakrebyle Elephant Camp near Shimoga (Karnataka) with the whole family at the end of December. The Sakrebyle Elephant Camp is a great facility where you can pet elephants in the morning and bathe with them. However, we booked an overnight stay and I am absolutely satisfied. We are European and although we didn't ask for it, a ‘less spicy’ version was cooked for each meal. That was very nice. The rooms (in 2 metre high tents) were very spacious and clean. I was very pleased with this offer.

The food was simple yet delicious and freshly prepared by the staff. Jolly Time with the Elephants: The main attraction is the chance to interact with the elephants. The camp provides numerous opportunities to get up close and personal with these gentle giants, from feeding them to participating in their daily baths, leaving us with cherished memories of our time spent with these majestic creatures. Traveller Tip: Book the Tent If you’re planning a visit, I highly recommend booking one of the tents if available.

Elephants and their carers are amazing. We had a wonderful rustic experience and were able to do lots of things. English was a problem, lucky we had an English speaking Indian visiting. There were a few blackouts and things were rarely on time.

A great experience not for children but to senior citizens also. It was pleasure to see how the elephants are captured and trained. The stay in the forest area and some more activities for the children was enjoyable. Even though the restaurant staff were very courteous and helpful, there is room for the quality of the food to be improved.

The accommodation is excellent on par with cenre parcs in the Uk but a fraction of the price . We were a three generation family from Uk who travelled from Goa it was completely worth the trip and we will stay again . Interaction with wildlife excellent.
