Very good hotel

Room We stayed in the Royal Suite area. The room was spacious, which was a plus, but several maintenance issues took away from the experience. The TV didn’t work during our stay, the bath leaked whenever we used the shower, and the tiling looked poorly finished. For a suite in what’s meant to be a five-star hotel, the attention to detail was disappointing. Food The food was very average. The selection hardly changed, and after a seven-night stay it became quite monotonous. The themed buffet nights didn’t really match the cuisines they were advertised as. The Lebanese/Tagine à la carte was one of the weakest I’ve tried - food was soaked in oil, lacked any real flavour, and wasn’t remotely Lebanese. Many of the same dishes appeared in the buffet on other nights, which made the à la carte option feel unnecessary. Staff Pool staff often seemed unhappy, and on two occasions we saw them arguing in front of guests. Most bar staff, apart from a few exceptions, were similarly unwelcoming. On the other hand, the cleaners were very friendly, and the restaurant team was excellent - attentive, polite, and genuinely hard-working. Special mention to Moaz (restaurant server) and Mahmood (restaurant cleaner) for their kindness and professionalism. General I would rate this hotel closer to 3.5-4 stars rather than 5. The sea water pool was being refurbished during our stay, and the Royal Suite pool was unexpectedly closed for half a day while we were using it. Pool areas were otherwise clean and tidy. As expected at most resorts, sales staff for excursions and spa packages can be persistent for the first few days, but they’re friendly and often stop for a chat beyond just selling. The location is convenient - about 10 minutes to Soho Square and around 15 minutes to Naama Bay. Taxis outside the hotel are usually about $5 cheaper than those arranged through reception. We weren’t the only ones who felt this way. Several other guests we spoke to during our stay shared similar feedback, and even a couple we met on the transfer home - who had stayed at the same hotel six months earlier - said they experienced the same issues back then. I’m not someone who usually focuses on the negatives of a hotel and I always try to give fair, constructive feedback. However, this hotel is falling short in quite a few areas and could be so much better with a bit more attention to detail and consistency.
