The hotel is very comfortably located to the Nanjing pedestrian street with lots of shops and cafes. The subway station is just around the corner. All the necessities are in the room. The only disappointing thing was absence of laundry service. I badly needed to wash my clothes. So had to buy just the clean ones nearby. The window view was on roof tops and the street was very noise till very late.

First time in China, I didn't know what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised at the standard of this hotel. The metropolo doesn't try to be anything other that a good hotel, it's not positioning itself in particular category or targeting a particular audience, it just wants to do the best it can. The location was great, the staff were efficient, the rooms were clean and the food was good. What I liked most about this hotel was the sense of history, this is not a 20th century new build, but a very old building from the 1800s modernised in the 1930s and they have done a great job at keeping up with technology without losing any character. If there had been a bar or lounge area to sit on an evening, I probably would have given it 5 stars. If I return to Shanghai, which I hope to do, I would have no hesitation in returning to the metropolo.

Great location!!! Right exit 1 Nanjing east station. 5 mins walk to the Bund and People’s square. The room is spacious with great amenities. They provide bottles of water all days. Comfy bed and pillows. The rug is a bit dirty, you can see lots of hair stuck on it. ONLY thing that bother me the most is AC. You can see tons of dust and maybe mold on the vent which is very uncomfortable to breathe in. Breakfast is good. They have some selection for foreigners, not only Chinese food. The seat is not enough, I totally understand that it starts from 6.00 but honestly as travelers who would wake up at 6 for breakfast after the long walk for sightseeing all days long. I would suggest that maybe they could move the time later a bit.

While the hotel appears a bit dated, the room was impressively clean with barely any dust in sight. Its location is excellent—right on Nanjing Road pedestrian street and close to both The Bund and Yuyuan (City God Temple). The beds were very comfortable, and the air conditioning worked perfectly. We can even see the Oriental Pearl from our window. Overall, I had no complaints at all.

The room was very clean and cozy. Although the public bathroom on the ground floor was not super clean comparing to the one in the room. All staff were very welcoming and helpful. Unfortunately there’s only one restaurant and there’s no in-house SPA. However there are lots of choices nearby (within 5-15mins walking distance). LOVE those old photos on the walls - a nice touch to showcase the history of the city.

-Super excellent Hotel. 5 Star Gold marks. -Great staff and very helpful. -Interior of the hotel is a very comfortable feeling. -Bed was super soft. Shower had super pressure with different settings. -Each floor had bottles of water to help yourself and saves you time than calling room service. Breakfast was good open buffet selection of Asian and Western dishes. I definitely will go back and stay there again.

This hotel is located on the corner of People's square on the East Nanjing road. Two minutes walk to station line 1, 2 & 8 which is very convenient and about 15-20 mins walk to the Bund. The lighting on the buildings around the Bund area starts from 6:00 - 10:00 pm where you can get some beautiful shots of the scenery. Staff at the reception desk speak fluent English which is great and you can choose to have morning breakfast there which is average or go out to eat. Wear a good pair of shoes as there's lots of walking and discovery on Nanjing road. Highly recommend it to everyone.

Hotel is very near line 2 exit 1. Location is at nanjing road east pedestrian street. 10mins walk to the bund. Room is small, with separate toilet and shower area. Bed and pillow is too soft. Can collect free bottled water at each floor lift area. Limited breakfast buffet variety.

Overall is average, the room price should be lower than 700 including breakfast in my opinion,.

The room window is not double window causing noise from street disturbing sleeping. The hotel is non-smoking hotel but there is smoking smell from certain rooms to hallway. There is toothpaste available in the room but no toothbrush.

The location of the hotel is very good. It is near East Nanjing. They have good service. Especially the bathroom with automatic system like Japan. The room size is not small. Cold air conditioning system. Like to come with unlimited drinking water. The staff is very helpful. Can speak English. Highly recommended to come here.

While the hotel front, lobby and common areas looked a bit dated, the room was clean and modern. Twin room: very spacious. Very comfortable beds with 2 pillows each. Bathroom amenities almost complete except for toothbrush. Iron + board also provided in room. Japanese-style heated toilet. Separate shower room with rain and handheld shower. The view from the room was decent with some skyline and sunset. Daily housekeeping was very thorough and very friendly. In-room bottled water & 4 tea sachets replenished daily. There's also a bottled water station on each floor where you can pick up unlimited bottles of drinking water. We took the breakfast option but was left a little disappointed with the buffet options. They were OK but we ended up skipping breakfast most of the days. Location: it's practically on Nanjing road pedestrian st so there's plenty of shopping and dining options just a few steps away. Walkable to The Bund - approx 10 - 12 mins. There's a police station right next door so I felt a bit safe :) Overall, I do recommend this hotel for the comfort of the room and the excellent location.
