Mijia International Youth Hostel (Shanghai People's Square) Reviews

Hostel is alright. Quite centrally located. Has a large common area and a rooftop where you can hang out. Can meet people in the lobby but there won't be that many international travelers. Staff doesn't speak English but they generally know what to do. Only hot water dispenser. Hard beds, but I slept well on them. Cleanliness is okay for a Chinese hostel but not on par with international standards. Common area will be covered in trash but you are likely used to that from other places here already. I think this place is okay but I also stepwise lowered by expectations in this country, in particular to what male neighbors are emitting in terms of noise, dirt and cigarette smoke.

Incredibly dirty rooms and bathrooms. People smoking everywhere. Guests were very inconsiderate, talking and taking phone calls at 3am. Impossible to get any sleep.

The location is convenient if you arrive at the train station but it's a bit far from the points of interest in the city and when I checked in the bed was clean but the drawer was full of bags and food packages from someone else that the staff cleaned when I went out to eat a few minutes later, using a copy of the keys, that made me wonder about the security of the hotel so it would be better not to keep valuables there

Excellent hotel! Very convenient location, close to bus stops, metro, shops and shopping centers, close to Narodnaya Square. Spacious lobby, hot and cold water at the reception, very tasty candies) Comfortable bed, with lighting, shelf and socket. Friendly staff!

Good, relatively clean. They also spoke English. Looks like a good environment. A little far from metro, but good localization.

The hotel was amazing, the staff was also good and the place was very nice,clean and tidy

The dormitory is small and the beds are hard, but it does the job. The hallway and the toilet are only cleaned in the morning and then it gets dirty for the rest of the day, the staff are great and they'll try and do anything to help. Over all it's a good place for a backpacker for a few days, considering the price

The room was ok. The stuff is nice. The shower and the toilet weren't that clean. There's no washing machine so people wash their clothes in the sink as a result there's a lot of water around it.

The location was incorrect, so I reached the wrong location. After complaining they updated the location. There is no toilet paper in the washrooms. They have boiling water at the reception table. So every time you have to come down if in case of water. No normal temperature water is provided.
