Convenient location near a metro station and many eateries. Comfortable environment with quirky designs and big on sustainability.

New hotel, nice lobby, good location and near metro station. The room is small. Suitable for couples and business travellers. Not suitable for families.

Chic deco hotel, stayed here multiple times in the same premiere room type. Always loved the size and layout of the room type. However, I just realised that the sound proofing isn’t that great, I can hear people talking/ walking on the corridors. Shoutout and kudos to the concierge staff Kate who was superb and helpful in assisting me for my international shipping of documents + other logistics (eg laundry).

Caption by Hyatt Shanghai is a stylish, vibrant hotel that offers great value for its price. The modern design throughout the property feels fresh and welcoming, with thoughtful touches that make the stay comfortable and unique. Compared to other hotels in the area, it’s very reasonably priced without compromising on quality or service. The location is another highlight—set in a lively neighborhood with malls, boutique shops, and lots of charming cafes nearby. It’s easy to explore the area on foot and enjoy everything from local eats to shopping. Overall, it’s a fantastic option for travelers looking for a trendy, affordable stay in a fun part of the city. I’d definitely return on my next trip.

Amazing hotel and probably my favourite hotel by far! Location: conveniently located next to a metro station (can be a bit of a trek after getting off the metro but there’s a shortcut via the mall next to the hotel that takes you up escalators without having to take the stairs to get up from inside the station). Very close to Yuyuan Rd and a lot of different food options nearby. There’s also a couple of large malls a short walking distance away. Room & Facilities: personally really loved the interior design and layout of the room. Perfect room size for solo travellers, has all the amenities you need. The bedding and pillows are a huge plus - they are so comfy. The hotel provides two bottles of drinking water, but they tend to top up to four if you’ve used them all up. Four tea bags are also provided. The hairdryer, kettle and iron are nice brands and well kept. Reception will ask if you need toothbrush and toothpaste upon checking in, they are also topped up when housekeeping comes around. The toiletries brand used also smells really nice. Service: staff are all nice and friendly, very welcoming, no hassles at all. Only downside (not too much of an inconvenience though depending on personal preference): you need to pick up food deliveries by yourself by heading downstairs - two sets of lifts: one down to the reception and another one down to the entrance lobby. Didn’t get to try the restaurant or use the fitness room this time around but will definitely be back!!

I was initially drawn to Caption by its chic and modern design, but unfortunately, the experience didn’t live up to expectations. I stayed for 3 nights and was extremely disappointed to find that the room was consistently warm and uncomfortable. Despite adjusting the controls, the temperature remained around 25–26°C with only warm air blowing due to the centralized heating system – as explained by the engineer. No option for cooler air made it really hard to relax or sleep properly.

I love this room so much, the bed is comfortable and the hotel is cute and artsy. The staff are professional and friendly too, I will visit again if I’m in Shanghai!

I stayed here for 8 nights. The room was lovely and the feel of the hotel is very modern. Food in the dining restaurant was good, however, it would have been even better if room service was available. Cleanliness was no issue as the staff ensured everything was immaculate and their laundry service was great. Sometimes I had some communication issues with the staff and the television system didn’t function properly throughout my stay which made entertaining myself a little difficult - but not the end of the world. Location is very good and convenient if you want easy access to Jing’An. However, the price tag is a little high per night by comparison to other brands, including Hyatt types.

The receptionist was extremely helpful, and I appreciated how they accommodated all our needs. I love how eco-friendly the hotel is, promoting recycling and striving for zero plastic waste—it’s a commendable advocacy! Keep up the great work, Caption by Hyatt. I will definitely come back!

Design is awesome and room is always clean and nice. Easy to access attractions and with many nice bakery nearby.

Beautiful and trendy hotel. Great cafes close by, with the metro around 7 min walk underground. We really enjoyed our stay.

All good, staff is friendly and helpful. Not much to complain about but it is not too cheap as well.

Location was perfect. Easily accessible to Hongqiao airport and railway station as well as Shanghai South railway station by metro line 2. All the cute shops, restaurants in the historical buildings off Yuyuan Road are just across the street. Service was excellent. Seria and Una at the front desk were very helpful and responsive; they even arranged for a welcome fruit platter! The room was comfortable and stylishly designed. Loved the hangout area. Great vibe!
