Baymont by Wyndham Shakopee

I come down every year and always enjoy my time, and this year was no different. The check-in staff (unfortunately, I can’t remember her name) was an absolute rockstar. She treated me like a VIP, even though I’m just a lowly Gold member, which I truly appreciated. That said, I do have two minor gripes—one of which might be an easy fix: The furniture – The chairs and couch in the room were about as comfortable as a cinderblock recliner. Granted, I don’t book a hotel to lounge around on the furniture, but a comfier chair or couch would be a welcome upgrade. Breakfast – The egg concoction I was served on Sunday… well, let’s just say I’ve had better eggs in the military—and that’s saying something. Thankfully, the rest of the breakfast options were decent and easy to enjoy. One final note that’s more of a personal preference: it would be great if breakfast could start at 6 AM instead of 6:30. I had early mornings all three days of my stay and was out the door before breakfast officially began. An earlier start time would have been a huge plus, though I understand this may not be feasible for everyone. Overall, I had another great stay and truly appreciate the hospitality.

We stayed one night at the Baymont while our home was being painted — and it was one of the worst hotel experiences we’ve ever had. Shortly after our stay, our entire family was diagnosed with scabies. No prior symptoms. No other possible source. Absolutely disgusting. The room itself was dingy, with torn curtains and a generally neglected feel. Not what you expect when paying for a place to rest and feel safe. When we arrived, no one was at the front desk. We waited over 30 minutes to check in. Another guest mentioned the staff isn’t given proper dinner breaks, so they have to leave the desk unattended — which leaves guests standing around wondering if the place is even open. And finally, breakfast is served inside the pool area, with no fencing or barrier. If you have small kids, beware — there’s nothing stopping them from walking straight into the water. Serious safety concern. Unclean. Unsafe. Unstaffed. We’ll never return.
