We stayed for four nights in the Golden Lion and had a lovely time. Our room was spacious and clean with excellent tea and coffee making facilities including a teapot and fresh milk on request. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, especially those who took great care of us at breakfast. Breakfast is very good indeed, cooked to order and delicious. The Golden Lion is located on the main road through Settle but it was not noisy at night and is in a great location for the Dales. The rail station is a couple of minutes away so perfect for a trip on the Settle-Carlisle railway. The only slight drawback is it has no on site parking but there is a car park is very nearby and there is some free on street parking available too.

A tiny hiccup to start, the bed was a double not a twin as requested by phone many weeks previously. This was quickly rectified and apologised for by the most amazing lady. Long streaked hair, I regret not getting her name. The Character Double was worth paying for. Great size, with a settee and 2 chairs. Spotlessly clean, quality furnishings and White Stuff toiletries which I now need to buy because they were so good. Comfy beds and a nice quiet room as requested. The evening meal was delicious. I am still dreaming about the sauce that was in my seafood penne. Sourdough bread with sage and orange butter, genius. Served by the busy lady who helped us with the bed problem. Breakfast was lovely and substantial. Throughout all of the stay, I can honestly say that the standout thing was the friendliness of the staff. I work in customer service, so when the whole team display constant standards of care, they should be applauded. We loved our stay and would not hesitate to go back.

Went here for dinner and had the Settle pie - really delicious taste. Good beer and good choice of wine. Excellent service by Natalie. Been here every time we visit the village (5 times) and never been disappointed. Friendly staff and great service.

We stayed at the Golden Lion with friends as we were walking the 3 peaks on the Friday, we both stayed in a classic room, the rooms were lovely, comfy bed, hair dryer, shampoo and conditioner, tea and coffee and bottled water, don't forget to ask for milk before bed.
We ate in the restaurant both nights, the food was lovely and we had great service.
We had asked for breakfast the morning of our walk as we had to leave at half 6, unfortunately they forgot to leave out any bread or bowls for cereal, which was a bit disappointing.
We had the full breakfast on the Saturday morning which was delicious and again the service was great.
Would definitely recommend

Lots of Good things. The pub is warm with a lovely fire, The food is probably the best cheese pie I have ever had. The staff particularly the waiting staff are excellent. Downside for me was poor quality sleep. We had room 10 looking over the kitchen (someone has to have it). The fan went off eventually however, the most annoying thing was that the smoke alarm clicked literally every few minutes. If you are a light sleeper you will not be able to sleep with this regardless of the ear plugs they supply.

We went for a late lunch and had the Settle pudding, my goodness, it was so good, I'm still thinking about it and want to go back soon! Excellent service too. Home made shortbread with the coffee too and a nice big cup of tea! It's really nice inside.
