Jolly Roger Inn & Resort

Great breakfast. That’s it. The pool is closed and under renovation and the jacuzzi is permanently closed! Squash courts closed. Staff had a weird edge. My room was shabby and not nice at all and I asked to be moved and they refused even though the hotel was empty. For example, the front door step was cracked which is a safety hazard and the door didn’t have a chain close. Overall felt like a weird approach from staff when you spoke to them like judgmental? The staff at the restaurant at night, a young man, was great. He was jolly, kind and social. It was Thursday night and they had a wing deal. That gentlemen seemed to do everything. He was the bartender and waiter. Although they had a waiter this one man was doing all the roles. He even checked on me and brought me more wing sauce. I wish I knew his name. What a fanatic staff member, truly unique. In the morning I was eating my breakfast and some weird man hovers up at my table and stares at me. He then makes a remark very rudely about my breakfast choices and I asked him who he was he said he worked at the resort in some maintenance role and walked away; refusing to give me his name. That sense was felt by the staff my entire duration except for the housekeeping; that gentlemen’s was awesome. They should all be wearing name tags but they don’t. Overall I will not be going back as it is false advertisement to state they have a heated pool and jacuzzi when in fact they do not and it has no serene nature because it’s in front of the highway. Tourists rent ATVs from them but if your not into that then. I had also inquired because it is published they have a fire pit and I called before going they said yes it is there and they have firewood. When I got there, no firewood and they told me because it’s not the weekend? Huh.

It was just fine for a night, the sauna and pool was clean. Room was clean, older style drive up motel room. Good to save some money, I would book again for a quick stop though without spending over 350 a night, so the place fit the price.

It was neat they had a tennis court, mini putt, an indoor pool, hot and sauna. But the pool, hot and sauna were all out of order. Breakfast included was ok. The facility could use a paint job and the front desk were unavailable most of the time. I will not be staying there again. It’s unfortunate because the place has potential if some extra care was added.
