Gilbert Inn Seaside

We had a wonderful experience. All things were positive, the staff, room, and the location was fantastic. Located about 100 yards from the beach made it the perfect location for a B&B.

Location to the beach is awesome. Bed was newer and comfortable. Much appreciated gluten free options at breakfast and didn't expect a buffet. We stayed in the turret room, part of the original house. We get it, it's an old classic house, but when the lamp in our room shakes because someone is walking down the hall it's a 4 not a 5 for the stay. We had good neighbors, but sharing the house with the wrong group of people could be a disaster. I might lean towards one of the main floor rooms. In the future we will probably spend more for one of the other housing options, but glad we stayed at the Gilbert Inn.

We were greeted at the door by a very nice young man who told us about breakfast, parking, etc. We chose the Addie room which is up a flight of stairs. If you are disabled this would not be the best choice. There are rooms on the main level that would be better. We liked the Addie room. It was very clean and had a window that could be opened which was very helpful since it was warm and there is no air conditioning in the building. Our room faced the ocean but there wasn't a view due to buildings on the street in front of us. The bathroom was very roomy. I would suggest grab bars in the shower and also a ledge to put soap, etc. on. They offered a very nice breakfast in the morning. They also had a fire pit outside the front door with chairs for relaxing. We walked to a nearby restaurant for dinner. Overall, this was a good choice for us and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to stay in Seaside. The only other suggestion I have it for the management to dim the hall lights at night. The lights stay on all night, and due to the age of the building, the doors are old and let a lot of the light in making it difficult to sleep if you are light sensitive.

Our room was small, but clean. The bed was comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. We were within walking distance of the beach, the promenade and many shops and restaurants. The breakfast selections were varied and above average. I especially enjoyed the scrambled eggs and home-made biscuits! My husband and I would like to stay at the Gilbert Inn again some day.

The photos of the Gilbert Inn showed a beautiful picket fenced Inn with white washed rooms and beautiful surroundings. On arrival we were somewhat disappointed with the reality. High rised tower block on one side. Overlooking houses on the other. Our room was dark wooden boarding ceiling to wall and claustrophobic. We were happier with the Motel 6 the night before. All I can say is, great marketing photos! Don’t be fooled

Good place located in downtown and close to the beach with friendly personal. Breakfast is above average ,...........
