"The hotel sits in the old part of Scuol in an ancient building and this is a nice thing. However the restructuring of the interior spaces made the structure quite anonymous. In spite of the restructuring process no elevator has been built as well as no air conditioning system: Scuol is 1200 meters high, not 1400 as the person at the reception told us, and the meter on the window of our room marked a 39.2 C as maximal temperature reached during our stay. This is hardly acceptable in a 4 star hotels that charged 760 CHF for a small double room for 2 nights. Such an hotel should have at least a nice swimming pool. In reality the pool is available but is a public pool where the number of people present and the round shape of the two main pools render swimming all but impossible. Last but not least: the pool can be reached after a 500-600 meter (and 85 steps) walk. On the positive side, the quality of some of the breakfast food (smoked saibling, cheeses) was good."

Hotel Arnica Scuol - Adults Only ★★★

"What a wonderful evening from start to finish. We began on the terrace with an excellent aperitif recommended by Danielle, the sommelière, whose warm advice set the tone for the whole experience. The starters were fresh and beautifully prepared. We especially enjoyed the salads, the carpaccio, and the bruschetta. My favourite main course was the perfectly cooked veal with its crisp, flavourful crust, paired with an excellent local Pinot Noir, Tuns da Tschêl. The kitchen also delighted us with thoughtful surprises between courses, a refreshing cold soup and an unforgettable honey ice cream. Attentive service, outstanding food, and genuine hospitality made this a memorable dinner. We will gladly return."

Hotel Garni Panorama ★★★

"Panorama is in an ideal location, i.e., ca. two minutes walk from Scuol-Tarasp train station, where also the major Postauto (bus) lines depart and arrive. This super convenient location will come with some street noise, naturally. The owner, Sebastian, is very kind and supportive. He reminded us that with our "Kurtaxe" (visitor's tax) came with free access to Rhätische Bahn, Postbus, and all sorts of lifts in the area for the duration of our visit, a great bonus of staying in the Unter-Engadin. The personnel is equally friendly and supportive. Our room was medium size, and came with a desk, a safe deposit box, a small balcony (seating one), and a small refrigerator, but w/o A/C, which is natural for a place at the altitude of ca. 1200m. With global temperatures rising even in mountainous areas, one has to be prepared for an occasional hot night, where opening the windows brings some relief. The hotel is labeled "garni", which means it provides breakfast, but not lunch or dinner. Restaurants are next door (there is a deal with the Bellaval Hotel, allowing access to their spa facilities, which we did not try), or a short walk into Scuol town. You can even sign up for affordable meals at the Youth Hostel next door. Breakfast was very decent, not luxurious, but very sufficient in terms of quality and quantity. Cappuccino was available on request The hotel was able to help us with an adapter for the strange Swiss-specific type N 230V outlets, which did not accommodate our Euro adapter. In any case, the desk offered one Euro-compatible plug. Since I prefer simple, clean, and small hotels, where you have a name and not just a room number, this would be a natural place to return to."
