Stopped by on spec for mid week lunch. It was a very pleasant surprise - delicious and friendly service Lovely village too with two bonkers second hand bookshops!

Nice room, good food at dinner and breakfast. Friendly staff in restaurant but reception staff somewhat unhelpful. The room (Robin) was located next to the driveway to the car park and the bathroom window faced onto it and it was not obscured glass which meant closing the curtains when in use making it dark. We had been given a different room to the one booked and after asking for a change once we had seen the room the reception staff were unhelpful in bringing a resolution to the issue that they had caused.

We stayed 2 nights in August for Bed and Breakfast and I have to say that overall it was quite enjoyable, it’s in a beautiful village that is in a great location for visiting other places in the area, the rooms are very dark and dated I have stayed here before so this time I upgraded my room but it still felt like a cave. My biggest gripe although not massive, is they refuse to serve Latte Coffee at breakfast but they will sell you some after 10 o’clock when breakfast is over. Most of the staff were very pleasant and I would recommend this hotel but be prepared for these small annoying issues.

Arrived with great expectations seeing what a thought was a fabulous public house . Greeted by a welcoming gentleman on reception and given the run down of what’s on offer . Attended my room and thought this is lovely . Long story short there was no hot water in my room from 16.30 pm until checking out the following day at 06.30 . Within this duration, I complained three times with the excuse of “ it’s probably people having showers / baths “ - “ give it another. Hour “ and finally “yes we’ve had a gas issue (19.30) and the supply is slowly getting back to normal . On checking the customer gents toilet at 21.30 there still was no hot water supply . Checked out the following day as nobody was bothered when I complained at breakfast. Was then charged for an evening meal at £22 plus a service charge of £3 for the brilliant staff that work there - Joke ! Complained to there HQ who acknowledged this and replied that they would respond within 48hrs - to this date - NOTHING ! Avoid !

Dinner Only. Poor choice of food, not well presented. Untrained and very inexperienced waiting staff, would have had better service in the school canteen, canteen noise, no ambience and too many dogs.

Don't eat there on a Monday! Not sure what the food is like on other days but last night was overpriced and horrible. Staff great though.

My wife Jean and I decided to celebrate our 60th wedding anniversary and her birthday at The Westleton Crown. We met with Vanessa, their events manager and planned a lunch for 20, with a champagne reception. She and another staff member, also named Vanessa, looked after the entire event with considerable care. That level of service, plus the superb food suggested and cooked by chef Alex added immeasurably to the great enjoyment and success of our important celebration. A truly memorable occasion! Well done The Crown!

We booked on a friend’s recommendation in order to have a weekend birdwatching and visit RSPB Minsmere. It’s a beautiful country pub with additional rooms around the car park/ courtyard. We had the Swan room, which we were informed, was where William and Kate stayed on their first wedding anniversary. A large room with a huge bath and spotlessly clean. Very happy with it. The first evening, we walked up to the Heath and listened to the nightjars at dusk, it was fabulous. Breakfasts were great, good selection and nothing was too much trouble (the staff throughout were top class). At dinner, the wines we selected were all good although the food was a bit hit and miss depending on the dish - some good, others not so good. That was the only area for improvement.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. We were a party of 3 , with 2 rooms. Our rooms were most comfortable and everything was well provided for. Very quiet, unless you count the lovely bird song! We had a good evening meal and breakfast was also superb. Staff were, without exception, kind, helpful and friendly. We wouldn't hesitate to return here.
