Further to my previous review we had dinner which was quite slow and the food was avery. The young lady who served us was very pleasant. Breakfast was disappointing The streaky bacon and sausage were undercooked. Poached egg was hard and baked beans Luke warm the waitress were pleasant unlike the manager who checked us in (Lee) and the rude woman who checked us out. I have MS and found the lack of support shocking. When my husband asked for a room with as few stairs as possible he was told by Lee the duty manager all rooms had steps/stairs. This was not true as the rooms facing the car park are on the ground floor and one has a ramp. Appalling customer service and discriminatory to disabled people. They just didn't care.

My wife Jean and I decided to celebrate our 60th wedding anniversary and her birthday at The Westleton Crown. We met with Vanessa, their events manager and planned a lunch for 20, with a champagne reception. She and another staff member, also named Vanessa, looked after the entire event with considerable care. That level of service, plus the superb food suggested and cooked by chef Alex added immeasurably to the great enjoyment and success of our important celebration. A truly memorable occasion! Well done The Crown!

We booked on a friend’s recommendation in order to have a weekend birdwatching and visit RSPB Minsmere. It’s a beautiful country pub with additional rooms around the car park/ courtyard. We had the Swan room, which we were informed, was where William and Kate stayed on their first wedding anniversary. A large room with a huge bath and spotlessly clean. Very happy with it. The first evening, we walked up to the Heath and listened to the nightjars at dusk, it was fabulous. Breakfasts were great, good selection and nothing was too much trouble (the staff throughout were top class). At dinner, the wines we selected were all good although the food was a bit hit and miss depending on the dish - some good, others not so good. That was the only area for improvement.

Have literally just left the Crown. Cannot fault at all. Room perfect, spacious, bath in the room an amazing touch. Pub and food brilliant. Stunning location. Would love to stay again.

We ate at the Westleton Crown twice last week whilst staying in the area, once in the restaurant and once in the bar. On both occasions the food was delicious and the staff were very attentive and very kind. We shall definitely return!

Absolute disaster. Complete Zero in terms of customer service. Waited at the bar for 10 minutes - no one arrives Walked around to find someone at reception - answer - "I'll be there shortly" Waited another 10 minutes - The person who was at reception had obviously been dealt with but still no sign

The staff are excellent but totally overstretched. Last Friday, at peak cash turnover time in the bar, there was for a while nobody behind the bar and really no beer. When ale returned on Sunday, it was Broadside which is too strong for a session ale. The only alternative was Barsham, which for me is one of the worst East Anglian beers. On Sunday, I therefore diverted to the sister establishment, the Ship. Not only was the beer and service spot on, but they have no delivery/ordering problems which is a recurring feature of the Crown. Why not have the Ship order the beer for the Crown???! I do not understand how the Chesnut Group can be successful if they are incapable of taking folk's hard earned cash over the bar on a peak Friday night at the Crown! Until this is sorted, less local people will go in the Crown and take their money elsewhere.

I stayed in Redshank one of the outbuildings in the car park area. Nice room, clean, comfortable, cosy. Nice quality bathroom products Tea tray was good Shower powerful and towels nice and thick quality No outside lighting in the area but you are supplied with a small torch on room keys. I feel the lighting outside is inadequate. Even strings of outdoor lights would be better than nothing! Dinner menu a bit sparse choice was limited food was nice quality and well presented Breakfast was delicious with a wide choice of continental and cooked Would definitely recommend and return Only gave 4/5 because menu needs to be improved and outside lighting is poor and could be a safety issue

Original visit here was in 2011, the venue being chosen by my professional chef brother-in-law. This was a third visit since, but the the first in some time. What's different? Back then, the menu had to be held with both hands; it's now a single side of A4. The sweet menu - an even emptier -single sided sheet of A4 - was basically a few things served with ice cream and nothing creamy in sight. The most weighty thing there is the cheese board. Service was good, food was very good... but it's not what it was. A much thinner experience.
