We stayed several days at the Gastonian on our visit to Savannah. The beautiful Italianate architecture reminded me of the house I lived in as a child in Chicago. Impossibly high ceilings, fireplaces, and fine woodwork. Someone has done an incredible job decorating it with period antiques and artwork. It's a unique step into the past, and fits right in historic Savannah. It is walking distance to Forsyth Park. It was a pleasure walking around and looking at the beautiful old mansions. We felt safe in the neighborhood as well as at the Gastonian. There was a deadbolt lock on our room door that can only be unlocked from inside the room. Our room had a newly remodeled bathroom. Quiet and peaceful. The day we arrived we were able to participate in the hors d'oeuvre and wine hour that is included. I was surprised how many hors d'oeuvres were served. We also went to one late evening dessert and port hour. We were served a very delicious full size banana cream dessert. It was elegant. The breakfast was fresh and the menu changed every day. All delicious. Plenty of staff. We stayed in the Jean Pierre Lafeyette - Superior King. The outdoor deck made it an easy walk to breakfast in the adjacent house. Show less

Beautiful rooms and a great experience. Breakfast was excellent, everyone was so friendly and we were impressed by the extras like happy hour with hors d'oeuvres and dessert with port wine! Would love to come back and stay longer.

They have thought of everything! Single available all day, wonderful breakfast that changes daily that you can eat inside out out. Hors d’oeuves in the evening that was more than just a light snack and’s served as dinner one night when we were in a rush, andalso dessert at night. Beautiful antiques and’s architecture

We had such a lovely stay at the Gastonian! It’s one of many historic inns and is just beautifully kept and preserved with outstanding staff. My daughter and I stayed in the Carriage House which is just separate from the main house. It’s two levels with a little living room, balcony and your own separate entrance. Loved the claw foot tub! A wonderful full breakfast is provided daily with new items on the menu each day . All the food was terrific. You can either eat in your room, the dining room, or the pergola outside. Chef Sabora is a delight to talk with and full of sightseeing ideas! In the evenings there is a happy hour with wine and hor d’oeuvres. The inn is in a great spot and walkable to everything (20-25 min walk to the river front). 5 minutes to Forsyth Park and the Williams-Mercer house which is a must see. Couldn’t have asked for a better stay!

The Gastonian is a charming historical inn, surrounded by gardens, located on the edge of the Historical District of Savannah, within easy walking distance of the many venues Savannah has to offer. It consists of two connected mansions. Visiting the Inn is stepping back into a time of gracious living and Southern hospitality. The rooms, all decorated with period pieces, have high ceilings, tall windows, and working fireplaces. The bedrooms are comfortable with air conditioning if needed. A cooked to order breakfast is available each morning, followed by hors d'oeuvres in the afternoon and finally a dessert and wine service in the late evening. Any review must certainly include mention of their fine staff. The friendly breakfast ladies in the morning, the bellmen, and the concierge desk folks all went out of their way to be helpful. Coming back to the Inn in the evening was like coming home. Worth mentioning is that there are no elevators so if stair climbing is an issue, I would request a room on a lower floor. I would certainly plan on staying again at the Gastonian for my next visit to Savannah.
