Needs update floor coverings and improve cleanliness of common areas

There are things we take for granted when we travel, stay in a hotel, breakfast. I’m picky, not overly demanding, but if I don’t have what I need, I ask. This weekend, August 5th, was a 3 day getaway, celebrating my girlfriends birthday, but also to visit her sister and brother-in-law. Lately, I been staying at Marriott branded hotels, their clean, normally great housekeeping, nice beds, decent size rooms. This time, the room seemed a little smaller, cheaper furniture, bins in place of drawers, shouldn’t be a big deal, The refrigerator was unplugged, front desk should let you know. I’d rather have a chest of drawers. Part of the reason I picked this hotel is a few months ago, I stayed at the Four Points Galerias in Monterrey, it was wonderful. Attention to detail was great, great staff, general manager was at reception speaking to guest. I’d go back in a skinny minute. Anyway, here I checked in to room 704, top floor. We had gone out to eat, so, it was a little late. The bathroom door dragged against the floor, at this time no big deal, but if I or my girlfriend wake up in the middle of the night to go, we’re going to wake the other one up. The next thing I noticed, using the faucet, it grunted too. Probably, a little WD 40 would fix it. I can’t believe someone at the hotel doesn’t notice this, but later, I understood. I also noticed earlier, there was only one bath towel and one pool towel. I found this strange, after all, the reservation was for two people. In my Marriott rewards profile, I also ask for extra towels, but seldom do I get them. I went downstairs, to ask if they’d move us tomorrow, but they had room 716 available, so we changed rooms. This room was better, but still the grunting faucet. The bathroom towels were the same, one bath, one pool towel. When I went to return the first key, I mentioned the towels, they sent some up. The next day, I asked the front desk, if they could make sure they left extra towels, they didn’t. The people at the front desk are nice enough, but they didn’t seem to care about my towels. Later, I asked the housekeeping folks, they didn’t listen or seem to care. The next day, asked two different groups of housekeeping, irritating, never got two towels, never got extra towels, so each day, I had to ask the front desk or housekeeping as they were cleaning a different room. In addition, my hotel bill was $23 more than the confirmation Marriott price. Friday and Saturday rates were cheaper than Sunday, but Sunday the hotel was almost empty. Not normal. The buffet is 290 pesos, but you can get 2 for one, but I wouldn’t recommend it, the service is slow, our waiter, not so friendly. But, there is an IHOP about a 5 minute taxi ride away, well worth the trip. If, you go Saturday or Sunday, get there before 10 AM, gets busy. WORST HOTEL EVER!!! Room was not ready on time. And their excuse was that rooms are ready at some point after three. TERRIBLE SERVICE AND CLIENT MANAGEMENT. Stay anywhere but here. Do not waste one single peso here. All other options will be better.
