The Astro

This small retro motel is a Santa Rosa gem. We stayed here on our trip to Sebastapol. It's in a great location. The staff was friendly and helpful. Our room was comfortable, with funky decor and a nice bathroom. We enjoyed the firepit and the complimentary breakfast the next morning and sat in the sunny courtyard. It was quiet and felt really private. Would absolutely stay here again!

Found a gem. Really enjoyed the retro look. Very quiet. Short walk to downtown. Grounds fun to look at and well maintained. Room was comfortable albeit on the small side. Granola and yogurt breakfast was perfect. Staff friendly. Would stay here again.

We reserved the entire motel for a wedding weekend. The Astro went above and beyond in facilitating the event and making sure everyone's stay was the best. We had a food truck in the rear garden area, tables in the garden, ,and conversation around the fire pit. The consensus opinion from family and friends was that the Astro made the wedding weekend wonderful- the retro ambiance, garden to wander in, and friendly and helpful staff were all appreciated. It was the first such large event the Astro hosted with the entire hotel reserved,, and based on our experience it won't be the last for special events such as ours. Thanks for everything, Astro!

Staff was friendly, helpful, and accessible. Grounds were impeccably clean as were the rooms. Retro but super comfortable. Casper mattresses were great! Free breakfast was locally sourced granola, yogurt, fruit and great coffee! Will definitely stay again next time I'm in town.

After checking out I received an email with a pdf of the final bill which showed an increase of $16.35 not a lot. Also a ‘donation’ of $7.41. Looking at my original bill I found the donation. I was never asked if I wanted to donate and I still have no idea what SRUAP is. I called to inquire and they could t tell me why my bill increased and offered to refund donation. Which they did. My concern is I asked for the managers email and emailed her initially about the issue below. My second email inquired about the overbilling and donation. She never responded. On the surface it doesn’t seem an issue. But if the overbill everyone and reimburse only those who catch it - it adds up. 5 customers 7 nights a week at $10.00 is $350 a week. $1,400 a month and $16,800 a year. Second issue is microwave they advertise as available in the lounge. During my stay they gave it to another customer. I found out another was available in another building and I had to get an employee to unlock the building when I wanted to use it. When the customer who had the micro checked out I asked if I could now have it put into my room. I was told no. I asked why the other customer could have it in their room but I couldn’t as I paid full price for my room. She just looked at me. Because there is no good reason to treat me different. My first email to the manager she told me that should t have happened and offered 20% on my next stay. I told her she should reimburse this stay as it was the stay with the issue. That email is when I brought up the overcharge and she didn’t respond. I will say the remodel is done well. Many people note the small parking lot in front of the hotel. I wouldn’t want to park anywhere else w. The exterior lighting is also super bright. At night with the room lights you can see the details on the artwork because there are just wood shutters on the windows. If you want a retro hotel. Stay at The Orbit Inn in Palm Springs CA $$$$ or The Foothills $$ in Auburn CA. Both have mature employees and are superb remodels. I’ll skip this hotel and stay over in Auburn next trip through.
