Casa Del Mar

I haven't been to LA in a while, and now I had to work in Beverly Hills, but I wanted the ocean, so I stayed at the Casa del Mar in Santa Monica, and I loved every minute I spent there, and every detail: The lush design, the lovely room (very quiet suite on the 7th floor; thanks for the sweet upgrade!), the gorgeous beach (endless!), the awesome view (to the beach, the palm trees, the pier, the Pacific...), the sunshine (yeah, well, that's Southern California for you, I know), the friendly, efficient and super-helpful staff, the extras (the house car from 4 to 11 p.m.), the delicious breakfast (which I had in my room every day of the 5 days I stayed, because I did not want to miss the view), the fact that guests of the Casa can also lunch and dine at the Shutters on the Beach next door. I loved the Nespresso coffee maker and the generous supply of bottled water without any extra charge in my room. I loved the huge bathroom and the cleanliness. I also loved the location: downtown Santa Monica and Pier are walkable, Venice Beach is within reach of the house car, and for every distance you might want to uber to, there are ubers available (I never waited more than 1 minute). Drive over from and back to LAX airport was about 30 minutes. From the very first moment on I felt at home, and I enjoyed every moment I stayed at Casa del Mar. I will definitely be back!

We had a corporate trip at Casa Del Mar and couldn't have been happier with our experience. The location was wonderful - right on the beach/boardwalk. The food and drinks (coffee to wine) were top-notch. The menu in the restaurant and apps in the bar area were perfect & very good. The rooms were beautiful and so well decorated - we had a room that wasn't ocean facing, and it had lots of light and a great experience. The front desk staff was lovely, accommodating a few asks that I had - including receiving a package I had shipped. Thank you to the entire staff. We had a great time!

My daughter and I went as a father daughter trip to celebrate her 21st birthday. I would say this hotel struck out. I am a detail person so if you are not, you may be fine staying here. The team was rude at times enforcing rules- no outside food in the lobby (we had spent all day out, got some street tacos, didn't want to eat them in our room, so we were going to eat them in the lobby). Must wear shoes in restaurant- told to me rudely while I was sitting, with shoes right next to my feet. We are at a beachfront hotel, right? Lobby shop, I bought a few things, then 5 minutes later had some doubts about an item. I had been standing next to the door waiting to get take away food from restaurant). When I asked to return one of the items, she responded that there was a no return policy. I could get store credit. Inconsiderate based on my living on the east coast. $8 bag of M&Ms sitting on the desk in the room. I wasn't even wanting to eat them, but I was sitting reading the menu and this stood out. These cost $1.29 at Target. I am alone in my room and I feel like the hotel wants more of my money. This is a bit of a standard hotel practice that just bugs me. Sunday evening- went to the pool to watch sunset. The towel, garbage, towel return bucket overlowing deck took away from the experience. 80% of the chairs had used towels on them. There was also a conference there that we had no warning of when we booked. This is far from a beachfront hotel. A bit rude and scattered.
