The Wayfarer San Luis Obispo, Tapestry by Hilton

The hotel is Great!!! Clean, safe and awesome location, however, I stayed at the second floor, I can heard the sound of the third floor customers walking all the time for 2 days, beside, that is 5 stars hotel, and I will go there again!!!

Cute and good location. Close to downtown and cal poly. Would stay again.

The room was quite small, but serviceable. The best part was staying on a Thursday night and being able to walk to the Farmer’s Market (bring cash - some vendors take cards & ApplePay but others do not… like the amazing barbecue place.). Alternatively, the hotel will let you rent bikes for $5/hour or $20/day, but that means you have to bike uphill back to the hotel. No thanks… we took an Uber back, it worked great. Back to reviewing the hotel. They said they were short staffed so they couldn’t offer late checkout, but they called housekeeping who agreed to let us stay until noon (!) … okay… I had a zoom meeting until 11:30, so that kind of worked except the room keys stopped functioning at 11am, so I had to interrupt my meeting to let my other half back in. Rather inconvenient. Otherwise, it was quiet, clean and a little weird with the pictures on the ceiling, but whatever.

A fun hotel with the unique feature that the attached Schoolyard restaurant offers a variety of board and arcade games, both indoors and outdoors—great fun, especially if you're there with friends. There’s patio seating in two areas. The restaurant even has its own custom beer brewed—Schoolyard Blonde—crafted by the local, family-owned Antigua Brewing Company using partly local ingredients. I just wish they had mentioned that more clearly when I asked, “Do you happen to have a blonde ale on tap?” As it happens, I had decided that on this road trip I’d only order blonde ales—something I never used to drink. The room was perfectly fine—nicely decorated, Starbucks coffee. I appreciated the rolling table, which you could move over to the window if you wanted to work on your laptop. I had selected a room with a view myself using the Hilton app. The pool isn’t huge, but it does go as deep as 8 feet (2.4 meters) and includes a hot tub, with new furniture and plenty of shaded seating. It’s not clearly indicated anywhere that you need to pick up a towel at the front desk. Was able to use the nearby washer & dryers at a modest charge ($2.25). The parking lot and landscaping looked well maintained, so I decided not to park on the street (which I think was free). I even received a Hilton Diamond parking voucher—though I’m pretty sure I paid the same as a regular guest. Downtown SLO has a historic look but still feels very modern. The hotel is just a bit too far from it (about a mile), but I still needed to hit my 10,000 steps that day, so it worked out. If the hotel had been located right in the center, I would’ve given it five stars.
