Drift San Jose del Cabo, a Member of Design Hotels

My family has been coming to San Jose for years, but we have a spot on the beach that we typically stay. We have noticed the Drift Hotel every time we come in to downtown to walk around/eat and it just looked so charming, modern and cool that we had to try it out on most recent trip. It did not disappoint! The minimalist modern vibes of this boutique hotel ooze out of every space. The rooms are so clean and a modernist's dream. The small pool in the middle of the hotel is the perfect spot to have your morning coffee and a pastry from Rubas, and the Mezcal bar/restaurant had incredible food! Beyond the vibes, the management at the hotel is top notch. Alex was so warm and welcoming from the minute we stepped foot in the courtyard to check in. He was genuinely happy to have us at the hotel and went above and beyond to make our stay wonderful. At one point while I was hanging by the pool, I even noticed him helping the cleaning staff get a room together. It was really awesome to see such kindness from the manager of a hotel. In addition to all of this, the location can't be beat. You are close the town square, many restaurants and bars, and lots of cool shopping. Finally, the rate we paid was extremely fair for the hotel. My only watch out would be if you are extremely noise sensitive. Because of the location, you can hear music from the local bars at night. However, the hotel does provide very comfortable ear plugs and once I used them, I couldn't hear a thing! Small inconvenience for such a great boutique hotel!

I was a guest at the Drift San Jose del Cabo hotel in June and had about the worst experience imaginable. My room was located on the third floor of the hotel, and to my surprise, there was no elevator to be found. The staircase leading to the 2nd and 3rd floors was not designed to US standards, as it was very steep with narrow steps and no handrail. Unfortunately, I slipped on these steps and broke my ankle. The hotel was tough to deal with, and after a long time, provided a partial refund for my room nights. This hotel is a member of the Marriott Bonvoy hotel group, in which I hold Gold Elite status. However, don't expect any special treatment, as the hotel showed little concern for the safety (or lack thereof) of its premises. Additionally, while their website says they serve breakfast, I found the restaurant closed both mornings of my stay and was unable to eat breakfast on the property. To add insult to injury (literally), the air conditioning in my room also needed repair during my stay. In summary, I'd say The Drift is all style and no substance. Guests beware and stay here at your own risk.

if you value rest & privacy, this is not the hotel for you. they are also not at all flexible in the booking terms, so be ready to commit when you book. I arrived late and there was loud music (techno/rave style beats) so they gave us ear plugs at check in. the room has a large window and door made out of glass that looks into the courtyard, so you have to choose between natural light or privacy. pros: the lcoation is central. the scene at this location seems very social so this might be for you if you're looking to party and meet fellow travelers/locals. I booked this hotel through ******* and needed to update my reservation. the customer service experience through both the app and at the hotel was poor. I would not recommend this hotel if you're looking for rest and relaxation.

I would rate The Drift to be an awesome and beautiful stay . I felt so welcome and Zay is the best she is the best host I have seen in a while thanks for your kindness and support Zay I would love to come back to stay at the drift the cocktails and food was delicious I appreciate the healthy and tasty choices
