Nice resort, very pleasant overnight stay. Good service, tasty food, great location. Clean villas , nice outside space. Water provided. No kettle hair dryer or iron, unpredictable showers. Very spacious though,happy to go back

Always a pleasure staying here, we've done it many times. The only suggestion would be to try to help reduce mosquitos (zancudos) inside the room, we spent quite some time killing a lot since I'm alergic to the bite

An ok place, very poorly managed.
The hotel itself is beautiful, aside from a dozen or so unfinished buildings in the back lot that give it a creepy vibe. (A couple have full grown trees growing up through the middle of the floor.)
The management is atrocious and the rooms are furnished with cheap crap they seem to have bought in the local market. The low light of my trip was when the full length mirror on the wall spontaneously fell apart (the cheap plastic frame came apart at the corners) and crashed to the ground in pieces. The hotel charged ME for that. I mean it wasn’t much— $17 or so— but I didn’t even touch it, and I specifically told them I refused to pay for it, and they just charged my card anyway.
So I hope they enjoy their $17 because I won’t be coming back.

15.632516°, -89.001832° Banana Palms Resort is a resort along the Rio Dulce near the bridge, first left turn. It caters to resort guests with accommodation, bar, restaurant, pool and day trips. For everything else, you have to drive to the main road. It offers Wi-Fi reception only in the villas and restaurant. Not at the two outside pools. The bar offers pool bar service. During a power cut, the emergency power supply was switched on late. In December 2024, villa 601 was close to the car park and reception, and housed villas 602 and 603. Villa 601 has a veranda, large bedroom with comfortable double bed, bathroom with bath and shower. The shower is hot, cold, hot, cold. Timing is essential. The room has air-conditioning and television. No minibar. The restaurant has an extensive graphic menu with numbered meat and fish dishes in large portions aimed at wealthy Americans. This menu could be served anywhere. We ordered fettuccine with white wine and champignons (GTQ75) and 12 ounces of breaded squid (GTQ135). Well prepared, but what does this food have to do with Guatemala’s local cuisine? Banana Palms Resort is a standard resort aimed at rich Americans and offers everything usual to keep you busy between bar and restaurant.

The hotel was very nice, the staff was pleasant and willing to help with any needs. The food options were plenty and tasted delicious.
The only recommendation I would have is to put a fresh coat of paint in some of the areas.
However, that wouldn’t stop me from staying here again.

This is a nice hotel but the pool was not open as advertised. Hot tub was too dirty to use. Restaurant food was not good. Rooms and atmosphere was good and front desk was friendly .
