Well where do I start, the level of service in this hotel is incredible ~ the attention to detail is top notch, I was blessed enough to have stumbled with a Hospitality Angel named Karan ~ he was so kind and attentive to every detail of my stay ~ he ensured my needs were met and above ~ he helped me coordinate my stay and catered a plan for me and my family and ensure we were taken care of. His professional and knowledge made everything smooth through stay. In my stay I also met other associates named Ken, Dom, Ashley, Giovanni, Natalie, Decorio and Julio - everyone played an outstanding role in showing what true southern hospitality is! The pool area and recreational area is a true getaway from the big cities ~ and the views are stunning from the balconies. The food is top notch and waiters are attentive at all times. Overall impress by the level of operation and kindness from everyone ~ the true human element.

So, I'm a Platinum Elite member, and the day before my stay, I received an email from Marriott informing me that I would be entitled to a late check-out at 4 p.m. I requested a late check-out at that time and was informed that it wouldn't be possible. My app says I'm entitled to check-out at that time and it's not subject to availability. But the hotel informed me that it was subject to availability. I arrived at the hotel on check-in day at 4 p.m. sharp, and my room wasn't ready. Besides witnessing dozens of people checking out at 4 p.m., I had to wait until 5:20 p.m. for my room to be ready. One detail: I was traveling with my one-and-a-half-year-old son, who had to sleep in his stroller while we waited to check in. In other words, I was denied a late check out and check in was only possible very late. When I checked in, I was informed that I could choose between points or breakfast for two guests. I chose breakfast, and guess what? The next day, when I checked out, I received a bill for $98 for my breakfast. I was informed that it would be complimentary because I'm a Platinum Elite member. During the night I went to dinner at the 18Oaks restaurant where we had a reservation at 8:45. We arrived at the place and were informed that we would have to wait, we waited until 9:40 to finally get a table for us. We opted to use valet parking and were informed by Marriott that they could charge our car since we have a Tesla. At the hotel, we were informed that the valet doesn't have charging equipment for electric cars. I said I would have the equipment, but was informed that the power outlet where they plug in the cars was faulty. Due to the Texas heat, I had to leave the hotel to charge my car before the battery lost all its charge while it was parked. In short, my weekend was not only stressful but disappointing, to say the least. Nothing I was told can be trusted, either by Marriott or the hotel. Schedules are a joke, and just so you know, the next day when my late checkout was denied, my wife had a spa appointment scheduled for 12 p.m., and we were supposed to have lunch at the hotel restaurant. All of this had to be canceled. I hope rushing me out of the hotel was worth it for you

The JW Marriott provided the perfect summer vacation for my family of 5. The room was impeccably clean. Anytime we requested anything, towels, a roll away bed, extra toiletries…we were met with fast and friendly service. My kids loved doing the scavenger hunt and eating s’mores. Pizza at Fiamme was a delicious treat. The pools, lazy river, and slides were perfect entertainment for my kiddos. My husband and I enjoyed them too. Every single employee that we encountered was super kind and quick to meet our needs. I can’t say enough wonderful things about our experience at this resort. My kids are already asking when we can come back. I saw several comments about surprise fees. My reply to that is: download the Marriott bonvoy app and do some research. It’s not hard to read and prepare for everything you will be charged for. I would say the service we were met with well warranted the amount we paid. Thank You SATX JW Marriott!

Had a great one night stay over Thanksgiving weekend. Loved the Christmas displays and events too. Kudos to Chef's Matt and Brian for accomodating my girlfriends allergies/restricted diet. Was very impressed at the above and beyon personalized menu they provided. That really meant a lot!!

Thanksgiving brunch was disappointing. PROS: staff was attentive, pleasant without being intrusive. Food was creative and tasty....but hot food was tepid not hot. No lines or crowds. CONS: The venue was like a huge warehouse with industrial tables and chairs. Tables just had numbers, no holiday decor at all. Tablecloths were oversized and just bunched up on the floor so your feel got entangled. Food was so spaced out that you had to walk alot just to get a normal meal and the plates were small so you had to make multiple long trips to get just a normal amount. VALET PARKING WAS $48.00 WHICH WE HAD TO USE BECAUSE SELF PARKING WAS SO FAR AWAY. The beautiful and historic Menger Hotel compliments valet parking for holiday brunch.

Here for a conference. Arrived at midnight after 13 hours of flying. Was told room I booked - King wasn't available. Too tired to care. Trekked - 10 minutes with luggage and door wouldn't open. Walked back to front desk. Much fretting and popping into a back room (manager?). Profuse apologies. Given another room. This time door worked. You pay $3 for upgraded wifi (necessary for zoom). Signal drops 1-5x per hr. Other hotel guests at the conference noticed this. Also even if Bonvoy, the second day when logging on, it wanted to charge me $17.95; for the same internet. Therefor held off and hotspotted off 1 bar. Eventually when I checked with the front desk later, they said "Oh we should have told you, just ignore it." Conference center is okay. Large ballrooms subdivide but really astoundingly poor signage to figure out which room was "Grand Oak N-P" or which was Grand Oak C-D, etc... It was not linear as you would expect and hard to find signs for many of them. AV staff (not sure if they were hotel or outside company) vaguely helpful but could also be a bit surly. However hotel waitstaff cleaning things up and setting things up were consistently very nice and polite. Room service staff was also very nice and polite. Whoever runs that division should possibly get a promotion. Room service food was okay. Burger actually quite decent except the bun which was cheap and crumbly. Club Sandwich okay but with thick Texas bread; as it is three slices of bread that you can't separate, your bite of food was full of bread. Fruit not ripe but it is November. No real vegetarian options other than salad - I realize this is Texas but this is a national/international conference and a decent number of attendees are veg; And there are 4-5 restuarants but apparently very few veg options, so they got uber eats after getting sick of pizza. Water park is well designed for kids. Saw some people locked in at night climbing over the fence to get out - apparently they had walked in and were in the hot tub and had to build a ladder with chairs to get over the gate. So night swimmers beware.... The whole thing is sort of corporate/soul-less but maybe if you live locally, it possibly feels more fabulous. Would maybe be a good stopover for a family, or you were keen on golf, but would definitely not come to a conference here again unless at gunpoint. Other rooms might be better, but don't depend on wifi for zoom or other work that needs a consistent signal. No single event was catastrophic. Staff were fine or (food related staff) quite good. But one thing after another was tedious. And the experience overall did not spark joy.

My husband and I stayed at this location in mid-October for the first time ever. It is a gorgeous resort inside and out. Meagan O'Brien warmly welcomed us and was very kind in making our anniversary trip special. Since check-in was at 4 and the lazy river and slides close at 7, we hurried to those areas to enjoy the little time we had. After a nice time floating and sliding (in cold water) until 7, we relaxed in the infinity adult pool and watched deer come out onto the golf course while the sun set. It was lovely and serene until two very loud ladies walked up with their personal pill speaker blasting music that drowned out the resort's music. No staff member said anything to them so, after 15 minutes of this, we left to our room. The room was spotless, well appointed and very comfortable with a breathtaking view. We did not eat at the restaurants but enjoyed a tasty room service breakfast the next morning before checking out. Full disclosure, the resort is pricey, plus you have to pay a resort fee and for parking. However, if you're looking to treat yourself for while, this is the place to do it as long as you're ok with being around families with lots of kids...which we are.

We stayed on the Easter weekend for a birthday celebration with the Sunday brunch. Also went to the lazy river and pool both days. Although it was of course a busy time we had employees making sure we were able to find the golf pro shop and other areas. Kudos to Tony, who stopped to give us a ride from the parking lot to the entrance when he could have driven by. A very enjoyable weekend!
