Hi and welcome to 'Woodsmoke'. This is a charming 3 bedroom old traditional 'Charentaise' house situated right in the middle of 'Pineau wine' vineyards and sunflowered fields. We are located 2km from the centre of the village of Saint Romain de Benet, near the busy market town of Saujon halfway between the coastal resort of Royan and the ancient Roman city of Saintes. We offer weekly breaks (length of stay negotiable outside high season). The house possesses two double bedrooms and one twin bedroom, two bathrooms, spacious traditional style fully-equipped kitchen, large lounge and dining-room. This is the perfect 'getaway from it all' in a 'home from home' location. Lovely Charentais House
The owner was very helpful and gave clear instructions about checking in. The owner kindly left us a bottle of wine and there were instructions about the the house which was also helpful. The house is lovely, three large bedrooms with a beautiful garden. Although it was April we had some great sunshine and were able to eat outside. The house is very comfortable and there is a bathroom downstairs as well as upstairs which was very useful with our young boys. We had a great holiday and will return. Thank you Andy.

Good - once we managed to gain access..
No word from owner on getting keys in days leading up to arrival despite him saying he would contact us, so we assumed he'd be there to meet us. Not so; he wasn't there.
Eventually found keys and gained access.
House is pleasant but feels unloved; several lights broken; landline ("for emergencies") was disconnected and hand set broken; don't know if heating system (supposed to cut in below 20 degrees) actually works,
There's loads of possible local cycling (boulangeries, fromagerie, honey seller, Abbaye at Sablonceaux) but we were only able to do that having brought our own pump for the tyres. We found puncture repair kit and tyres leavers but no pump.
Notwithstanding the above we enjoyed our 8 days there - just felt it was let down by the above and especially no word from the owner on finding the keys.

Lovely place to stay
Great house with real character, quiet and out in the sticks, but only 5 minutes from a supermarket and 25 minutes from a beach.
Really nice garden with shade and sun and lots of seating.
Everything we could need in the kitchen.

Cuckoo
As quiet and peaceful as we remembered the cottage. Very handy location if you need a more active environment. Yes you can hear a cuckoo in the forest!

Maison impeccable. Tout est à notre disposition. Environnement très calme. Endroit idéal pour déconnecter et bien situé entre Royan, Saintes et à quelques kilomètres de la Rochelle. Non tout était bien, le soleil, les restaurants, un espace pour notre chienne, des voisins très gentils et un propriétaire à l'écoute. A recommander sans aucune hésitation.

Tout ce dont on a besoin dans une maison est à disposition. Le jardin est parfait. Il y a une petite route qui passe juste derrière la maison, peu passante, mais le bruit peut réveiller le matin si on a le sommeil léger.

Jolie cocon spacieux entre vignes et mer
Jolie propriete spacieuse , cocooning avec tous les equipements necessaires , au milieu des vignes.Notre petite chienne a egalement apprécié le jardin bien clos et les petits sentiers dans les vignes. Le proprietaire a été tres receptif à nos attentes.Un lieu ou nous aurons plaisir à revenir. Tres bien Située entre Saujon et Royan,nous avons pu decouvrir une region riche en patrimoine culturelle et naturel.
