Good place to stay.

Because it was a business trip for training, I stayed here for two weeks at a time. The front building is a bar, and the back building is a hotel. Most of the waiters are friendly, and the food in the bar is also delicious. The room has a very simple layout, because it is considered In the suburbs, the public transportation is not very convenient, but the environment is very good, not far from the National Forest Park

My wife and I were booked on two sailing courses over two weekends and to save us having to get up early and drive from Devizes we looked for a hotel that was near. My wife booked this hotel and we were not disappointed, the all the staff were extremely polite and professional. Rooms were quite spacious and very clean, comfortable and obviously done to a very high standard as although on main road and a wedding on both weekends you did not hear traffic or noise. The two evening meals and breakfasts were really good quality and full of flavour. We thought for the cost this was a very reasonable price and definitely stay again and will look at booking more Green King places to stay in the future.

Overall good. But very tatty in places. Positives first! Very good staff. The staff really are the saving graces here. All very good with customer service even when under pressure from a large wedding party. Very good food. Not expensive- good Pub fare. Clean rooms/ bathroom. Negatives! Sadly looking very tatty in too many places. Come on Green King clean this up! Poor first impressions - garden/ entrance very down at heel. But the best tatty is saved for the rear. Which many rooms overlook. OMG! What a mess! Ancient broken furniture littered everywhere. Looks like a dump. GK - it’s easy to put this right… this week! Some of the interior of the main bar/ restaurant area is also very poor.. see pic. All this is quite sad. As with a little effort this place and the “ gardens” could be easily elevated.

We got married her 24 years ago so holds special memories, however for the last 2 times we have eaten there, we were very disappointed. We thought we would give this another try for fathers day and boy were we glad we did. Terrific Sunday lunch. Couldn't fault it. Thank you. We'll be back soon.

A very busy little place, food was absolutely excellent even if service was slow, but it was only slow due to the fact that they were very understuffed in the evening and for breakfast. But the stuff that was on was amazing, they couldn't have worked any harder than they did. We enjoyed just sitting in the restaurant between courses people watching Accommodation was lovely bed very, very comfy, very Clean tea and coffee facilities in the room topped up every day, fresh towels, every day, centralised, for all amenities, we were that impressed with the hotel we wanted to stay an extra night, but sadly, the place was fully booked. They had a couple of parties and a wedding going on. So we couldn't get a room, but we would definitely stay here again. It was, it was just so nice. We stayed in room 1 very quiet corridor close to the toilets and restaurant and reception the grounds are amazing free car park but remember to enter your details on arrival

Attending an 80th birthday party on Saturday, so stayed the night. Staff were friendly and helpful at reception, room was pleasant and clean. They were very busy with a few functions going on but the staff were delightful and attentive. The buffet they provided was excellent with good quality food, very impressed. We could see how busy the staff were and how hard they were working but nothing was too much trouble, was very impressed. The only downside was there were a few unruly people staying who decided to run up and down the corridors banging on bedroom doors, and then someone pressed the fire alarm at around midnight which woke the people who were sleeping but again nothing to do with the staff this was beyond their control and it didn’t last long. Had a nice breakfast, plenty of choice and it came promptly. Will definitely say here again when in the area.

Firstly phone signal and internet are shocking so if this is a must then look elsewhere Rooms use a key and not a card which doesn’t bother us but some people in reviews have shown a dislike to this Rooms are clean and adequate We spent the evening in the bar area which was very nice ,it wasn’t overly busy but only having two staff on duty running the restaurant and bar meant they were severely overworked ,still tho raised a smile and made time to chat which was a credit to the two of them. We knew this would mean a delay to getting food but this didn’t bother us and we enjoyed a relaxed evening . The morning we were greeted bluntly by whom I assume is the person running the breakfast are ,initially expecting us to pay for breakfast and after a couple of minutes agreed ours was free as we had booked to stay . There then followed a to and fro for ten mins as because we were a family of two adults and two kids albeit they are 15 and 16 they wanted to give them junior meals ,this made no sense as junior meals are served for children aged up to 12 plus because we were a four we had to book two rooms to stay and paid extra to have two family three person rooms ,I highlighted this and explained we had paid extra for these rooms and as there was four of us they were getting two breakfasts less to serve up as we could of had six people ,this continued until I asked to speak to the manager which the lady would not get and said they would speak to them for us then five mi utes later it was agreed as a one off we could have the adult breakfasts ,such a stupid argument which I’ve never had to deal with anywhere we have stayed just for a couple of sausages and bits of bacon. I explained that the boys could both have u limited access to the pastries and could if they wanted to eat thirty each which would cost far more than one sausage and one bit of bacon .This rule needs changing seeing as the main menu junior food is only for 12 and under.this put a dampener on what was a nice evening and stay. Would we come again ? If having to have the argument over the breakfasts no if resolved yes

Trying to get the attention of anyone at reception is impossible. Bar staff tell you to “hang on” when asking for assistance. No towels in the room. Informed bar staff who was going to write it down as no one available at reception. Also wrote a note and left at reception. On arrival back 6 1/2 hours later told there were no towels to be had. They could dry some I wanted them to. Get back to the room and towels had appeared. Blind leading the blind! Let’s hope they haven’t lost all the breakfast tomorrow morning!!
