Check in was terrible. I tried to ask a question and the gentleman immediately shut me up. He said he will tell me all that I wanted to know after his spill. The main question came up when he told us that we could not park the next day where our 1st floor room was at because the area would be under construction and I would not be able to get out of that area. This never happened. Loading up all of our suitcases when we were leaving and having to go out a different way other than going out directly from our room forced to use an elevator to get to the 2nd floor where we were told we would have to park was very inconvenient for us and no construction had taken place where our room was at. Toilet is very low to the floor and was very small. The view the best part of the whole room. The hotel was also loaded with several people from a tour group was staying there for both days we were there. Breakfast was a mad house with all the people there. Barely got a table and we had to get there when breakfast first opened. Breakfast was good just crowded.

We were on a bus excursion, and most of us felt the same way. The facility is older and needs some updating. Mostly the common areas were lacking. There is no real lounge where people can congregate, the breakfast room is locked up when not in use and is unclean. The swimming area is dark and moldy. The continental breakfast was pretty marginal. So, really, the amenities were non-existent. On the plus side, being right on the water was great. The rooms all had decks facing the water, but they too could have been cleaned, and we only had one flimsy plastic chair to sit out there.

While on a bus trip to Mackinac Island, we stayed at the Bavarian Haus Lakefront Inn. The hotel was ready for us when we arrived. This is an older hotel with old-fashioned keys for the doors. It could do with an update to the rooms, but they were clean and everything inside (refrigerator, light switches) was in working order. Our room was huge. We actually had 3 beds in it, with lots of room to move around and stay out of the other person's way. We also had a nice balcony that overlooked Lake Huron. We took a walk on the beach. Watch where you step. There are lots of geese and other birds in the area. The breakfast area was nice and had a large variety of food. The main room was very crowded, but there was also a side room where you could sit to eat your breakfast.

Room was good. Great veiw of Lake Huron. We were able to sit out in the evening and enjoy it. Free breakfast area is small. Price was right though.

Handicap Notice: ask for room 250 if in a wheelchair (please only ask if in a wheelchair) my mom is 100% wheelchair dependent and this room was amazing! Plenty of room, not only by the bed but in the bathroom! And if you ever travel with someone who needs help in a bathroom you know this is a big deal! Two of us plus the wheelchair were easily able to fit! Yes this hotel on the outside and in the halls looks dated. The room was AMAZING! Bed and bedding new and clean clean clean! Never once saw a speck of dust in the room! All rooms faced the lake, lots of fun things to do on the lakeshore. Side note my mom was able to get out onto the balcony in her wheelchair! The ladies in the office were also so friendly and amazing!

The only reason this hotel is still in business is the awesome location. It needs deep cleaning and updating. Double check your balcony door when you get there to see if it closes securely or locks. There is an entire row of balconies on the back side of the building that all connect so it would be easy for someone to enter your room from the balcony door. Our door didn't lock or shut completely. If you don't care about the room at all and just want to sleep there and shower, it is passible.

We loved that the hotel was clean and affordable. This hotel is authentic. It isn't a sterile corporate environment and the people that own it and run it are real people that live in the community. Everyone was down to earth and friendly. Every room is beach front and it just really felt like home base. I highly recommend the suites. We had such a wonderful time. It was so nice just to come home to a clean room, friendly service, comfy beds and an amazing view! Definitely we will come back next year! Room 149 os where we were and goodness! That firm matress was a welcome friend after a long day of activities! 10/10, we will visit again!

We had a great stay this past weekend. When we checked in I asked if they had a room with a sleep sofa also as we ended up having an extra person with us. They had a larger room and upgraded us to a two bedroom with a living room for a very very resonable rate. The staff at check in were very friendly and helpful and answered any questions I had about things in the area.
When we entered the room we were very suprised at how nice the room was. Room was very clean and everything worked great. Beds were all very comfortable and the view from both of the balconies was great. The only thing that could use updating maybe was the bathroom but it did not look bad at all just a little dated.
We are probably going back to the area in October and will definitely be staying here again.
