Castillo Real St. Augustine Beach Resort, Tapestry by Hilton

We visited Castillo Real St Augustine Resort right after it reopened and after they did a total remodel on the facility. It is absolutely gorgeous! The rooms are very big and the bathroom is wonderful! It had a separate shower/commode area from the sink and makeup light area. The beds are comfortable, the shower has great water pressure. They have a bar/restaurant area and a really nice pool.

The first night we checked into our room we realize it did not have working AC (which we figured could be because they are under construction). We waited awhile thinking maybe we just hadn’t given it enough time to cool off, but it never did. My husband went to the front desk around 1AM and an employee (Christopher) immediately checked us into a new room and apologized many times for the inconvenience. The new room had a great AC, was very clean, and had an even better balcony view than our original room had. When my husband brought it up to the manager (Rhonda) and was praising how well Christopher handled the situation, she also apologized and waived our parking fees and taxes on our room. We greatly appreciate how we were treated by the staff and we will definitely be returning!

Everything for this stay was awesome! The room exceeded expectations and every employee that I encountered was very pleasant. It is very close to the ocean (just down a side street). It is within easy walking distance to a few restaurants and a couple ice cream shops. They are still doing construction, so there is no dinning area at the moment and the fitness center was not available. The construction did not affect our stay. The walls are not thin like some places, so you won't be stuck listening to your neighbors. I liked the place so much that I went ahead and booked the location for next month.

Under construction not floor. The place is a disaster. When i made the reservation they said they are part of the new collection by the hilton. Terrible please any other hotel is better. They said the gym was closed everything is closed in the hotel.

So, we had one night in St Augustine & chose to stay at Castillo Real. The outside looks fine, but minimal parking in front. On entering, the lobby was clearly under construction/renovation. The lady checking us in on the evening of 11/23/2024 was fine. She wasn't overly friendly, but wasn't awful either. The room was oddly shaped and clearly not complete in terms of the renovation. The floors were uneven, there were spots that still needed paint, and there were no towel bars in sight. The bathroom was finished, but there were no shelves so we had to put the shampoo & soap on the floor. We went to turn the TV on, but there was no remote control. I went downstairs to ask for it & was given one. Unfortunately, it still didn't work. Upon further investigation, the tv had no power cord. As we left for dinner, I asked the front desk lady for a power cord & she just said that the maintenance guy was already gone for the night. I did not feel that was acceptable & asked her to call someone. When we got back from dinner, she had a power cord for us. The TV finally had power and....the remote still didn't work. I controlled it manually for the remainder of the visit. Needless to say, we will not be returning to Castillo Real.

Please go anywhere but here. I wish we had stayed at the Marriot or Hilton chains across the street but we were deceived by the glowing reviews. Learned my lesson it’s much better to pay more. Staff here was pleasant enough but we were unaware the restaurant was closed and the jacuzzi wasn’t functioning- lukewarm with one jet working (we booked the hotel to have a bar and a jacuzzi). The room had a heavy stench of mildew mixed with just stale air. No opening windows or ventilation. The AC worked very well, super cold. I assume due to the renovation, the furniture looked like it was from the early 90s - wood carved and a plastic wood themed headboard. I didn’t even mind the hammering and drilling at 9:30am, honestly the construction was not my issue with this location. It was #1 the smell and lack of fresh air. I have no problem with a parking fee, but maybe waiving that while under these conditions would be a wise choice erring on the side of your guests.
