The Manor House Celeirós ★★★
"This is a wonderful place to be. It's such a warm welcome and the restaurant is the best we had since times. The people were very friendly and gave us very good advice of the wine and the meals. The restaurant normally is at another place on the site, but was now under construccion. For us even better, we didn't have to go outside to have the dinner. The rooms were not that big, but very comfortable. We surely come back."
Quinta Nova Winery House - Relais & Châteaux ★★★★★
"What a wonderful place Qunita Nova is. Nestled on the hillside, it is a haven of tranquility and spectacular views. Food and wine were superb as was the service provided by the extremely welcoming staff. Everything was arranged for our trip by the Qunita Nova team and we enjoyed a boat trip to Pinhao, ebiking through the wonderful hills of the valley and wine tasting and guided tour of the Quinta Nova vineyard. Taking the train from Porto is the best way to arrive and take in the amazing views of the valley. The team are on hand to pick up and drop off from the station whenever needed. We had a fabulous time and will be back :)"
Quinta Manhas Douro ★★★★
"It's a nice, small hotel, the decoration is modern and the room was very clean. A little bit outside the village, you can look from your window at the center. As we made an 7-days walk along the river Douro, we were very lucky to have a meal in the house. The mother of the owner cooked a delicious tasting meal for us. So that was a really wonderful surprise."
Casa do Santo - Wine & Tourism ★★★
Quinta de la Rosa ★★★★
"Excellent location. Amenities and overall service is pretty average at most. Breakfast is average."
Quinta Da Marka ★★★★
MORGADIO DA CALÇADA ★★★★
"If you’re looking for authentic Portugal then this hotel and village tick the box! A delightful family run hotel and vineyard which have been in the family since 1590 … now 19th generation! I chose it as we were looking for accommodation close to Pinhao having hopped off a river cruise 2 days before it was due to end. Bored! We collected our car from the Vila Gale Douro Vineyards hotel and took the scenic route to this hotel. A warm welcome awaited us from the current owner! We had a light tapas type evening meal (arrived too late for dinner served at 19.30) washed down with a glass of MC white wine! Exquisite! The room was large, airy and air conditioned. Kettle, water and an adequate array of fitted wardrobes. A fabulous, large en-suite wet room too! Breakfast was utterly enjoyable … a good selection of cereals, bread, cake, jams, cheese, cold meats, tea, coffee etc. Eggs and omelettes also available. The hotel is set amongst the vineyard with an exquisite court yard and enclosed, walled swimming pool. We were delighted to find this awesome, authentic, hospitable, sparklingly clean hotel and left with 3 bottles of their delicious wine and happy memories. The panoramic views from this area are outstanding."
Quinta da Veiga ★★★
"Well, I don't even know where to start, there are a lot of things wrong and needing inspection at all levels by competent authorities. Starting the narrow path to the farm, two cars don't pass each other if they are unlucky enough. Arriving at the farm, to my amazement and I even thought it was a joke, the employee, despite being friendly, doesn't speak a single word in Portuguese... where are we? Or to the point this has reached, I understand some languages and if you want to speak English I wouldn't go to Douro. Even an American couple is trying to say a word in Portuguese that is not being answered. There was only one employee for everything, from reception, cleaning the leaves from the pool full of verdigris and without water treatment, dinner, breakfast, all that was left to do was make the beds. In terms of safety, it is very complicated for those who use a wheelchair or have reduced mobility. It's not for old people. Lack of lighting around the farm. At night you can see absolutely nothing. The typical 17th century decoration mixed with oriental… for typical Portuguese I don't understand. If it was placed later or if it would already be there. But it was good practice to leave only the typical Portuguese as that was what was wanted in the area. Very weak breakfast. The employee came with about 10 slices of bread in his hands without gloves or utensils that would allow him not to touch the food, which makes me doubt the rest. I didn't understand if he was an employee or owner of the farm since nothing made sense from the service to the rest. They should say that Portuguese is not spoken at all and only English. Experience not to be repeated. Every place needs a serious inspection."
