Sunset Ridge Guest House

I love the location of Sunsetridge Guesthouse. It's on the edge of the Kgaswane Mountain, in a pleasant part of the neighbourhood. Clean, peaceful, and very popular with business people overnighting or sometimes staying the entire work week. Great for a romantic getaway. Hosts Elsabe and team keep the place clean, with room service every day, clean bedding, fresh towels, and toiletries. Breakfast is awesome, 3 course meal with fresh fruit and a hot serving, which is varied. Sleep quality was great. I highly recommend people book in. Came home refreshed and ready to face the busyness of work, life etc

after a hire car breakdown (thank goodness it happened in Rustenberg at the Shell petrol station) we eventually arrived at our destination with the help of an Uber arranged for us by the emergency service on behalf of Alamo. We were shown to our room by the lovely Comfort. The room was large with a big bed , and old fashioned furniture. The bathroom complete with a huge walk-in shower with various "water features" and there was also a big bath /jacuzzi. The shower was quite powerful, but many of the find rubber nozzles were blocked. Apart from being totally shattered, we hadn't had anything to eat, and were also surprised to hear that the local italian pizza place didn't deliver. Comfort came to our rescue and made us couple of omelettes - so so appreciated! Breakfast the following morning was ok. we had plenty of fresh bread to make toast, a great variety of jams and coffees. Our replacement hire car arrived in the form of a toyota hybrid something or other and off we went on our onward journey .... another adventure in the making

Owner and management was rude and not prepared to help with alternative bed - mattress old and sagging. I ask for a different room or a mattress to sleep on the floor without any success. Had to check out and find different accommodation late at night. Stay as far away from this place as possible

I booked one deluxe double room with balcony, bath and shower and minibar..as advertised. No cansellation option was possible. The deposit was immediately taken from my credit card. I was placed in a small bedroom with shower only and balcony door that could not open...and no minibar.They then moved me the next day to a better room with beautiful view..but still no bath or minibar. The breakfast was very poor. No filter coffee... no cheese. The chocolate muffins were stale and probably a few days old. I was given no choice of how I wanted my eggs done . One of the other guests sent their breakfast back as they did not eat ham and did not want scrambled eggs. The plate of food was then placed in front of me. Without even giving me any choice ..it was definately the plate of food the other guest sent back to then kitchen. It was a croissant with ham and scrambled.eggs...already cold. I could not eat the cold eggs and asked for another croissant. They brought me a croissant that had been warmed up in the microwave for too long... totally inedible. No service or help carrying my heavy luggage down the stairs to my car on departure. I booked Sunset Ridge as I was looking for a better place to stay and thought I couldnt go wrong with a 4 star guesthouse.... Very dissalppointed.. I dont know if it was just because it was 1January and they were short of staff ... but that really is not an excuse. .

A generously proportioned room with a large bath/shower/toilet en-suite. Atop a rise on the edge of town in a residential district, views are breathtaking. Breakfast in a sunny salon, with eggs cooked to order; bacon (British/Irish type) and boerwors (sausage) available, (& a variety of sauces) along with cereal, bread varieties to toast, and about 8 different jars of instant coffee to try, as well as tea. Pool secluded “out back”. Service is like visiting your auntie: you’re like the favorite nephew/niece. Seniors should know steps are mandatory to reach the rooms. In order to reach the views, you’ll explore a labyrinth of curving streets with less-than-pristine markings (e.g. stop lines). Power outage lamp provided.

Beautiful place at a spectacular location. However, management needs to have a talk with its staff. They were very noisy in the morning and actually woke me up. They converse at a very loudly - which I think it is very inconsiderate moreover knowing that there are guests at the establishment who might still be asleep.
