Stayed for a family birthday celebration. The evening meal was delicious and the menu had a good variety of food to choose from, we all had breakfast the next morning, all were wonderful and again there was a great choice. I had the most amazing sleep the bed was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in! Water pressure is great so a lovely refreshing shower. In beautiful surroundings and had a lovely walk along the river, parking was reserved for each room so no issues with parking. There always seemed a lovely amount of guests around to give it a great atmosphere (and they have the best wallpaper in the ladies toilets that I’ve ever seen) thank you to Lewis and his wonderful staff for a most needed break. Would definitely book again.

We had a lovely stay, friendly staff, popular restaurant where we had a delicious vegan meal on arrival, quiet rooms, comfy bed, good breakfast options, and great river walk accessible from pub grounds. 100% recommend.

The Duke on the Test is lovely. Room was nice and clean. Breakfast was really good and well cooked. Staff were super friendly and very helpful. Car parking was easy. It is a shame we arrived so late in the evening (2215), it would have been good to have sampled an evening meal there. Still, we took a couple of glasses of wine to our room instead.

A fine stay for the night. The room was clean and large. However a few things could be better - there were no sachets of coffee in our room, the room being so close to the river did have a slight smell, and an extra hand towel would be handy. However we slept well and would return for a night if passing by.

Four of us were fishing on the test and stayed two nights at the Duke. I have nothing but praise for the team and the hotel / pub. Friendly, supportive, good food, rooms were ideal and clean. We found a friendly pub atmosphere, followed by good food in the restaurant. Breakfast was great. All in all a highly enjoyable stay made the better by the positive and engaging attitude of the staff.

I highly recommend this hotel. It is a historic building with modern facilities, excellent food, and consistently high standards. The star element has to be the staff team - professional, well trained, efficient, but also friendly and helpful. Very comfortable, well appointed bedrooms and a lovely setting. .

Almost perfect. The staff are exceptional and cannot be faulted. They are clearly very well trained and their smiles and helpfulness brighten your day. Rooms are first class. Immaculate, comfortable and well provisioned. Bathrooms excellent with good water pressure. Good and service as food as it gets. The pie was out of this world and the steak, sides etc could not be faulted.
