One extra star for the good food and service in the Tavern Restaurant separate from the Inn. With that said, the previous review was spot on. Do not let the photos fool you. Even the video slide playing in the restaurant has photoshopped pictures of the pool, grounds and Inn that do not reflect the actual property. The vineyard is picturesque, but hotel is not managed well and the room was very tired and needs painting around the dirty air vents on the ceiling and in desperate need of a refresh and deep cleaning. Most disturbing was the fire alarm that went off at 4:10 AM on Saturday mornings causing the entire building to be evacuated outside until the firefighters showed up. More concerning was there was no manager on duty or security at all. The firefighters asked the guests if there was a manager? To make things worse the front desk confirmed that there was not any management or security on the premises and she wouldn’t be in until Monday. When we alerted the front desk that the firefighter had told us the problem came from room 15, whose fire alarm had off due to the steam in the shower, the front desk told us that it had happened before in that room. So here’s a tip, if you know there is problem in the room how about not being greedy and take it off the room block and put it in out of order before you displace the whole hotel. A note from management? Nope. Acknowledgment of the incident to guests? Nope. Recovery? Nope. Less alarming, but worth pointing out they ran of pastries at breakfast, which I don’t understand if you know how many guests are staying in the hotel. This was actually okay since we had lost our appetite looking at the dead flies on the windowsills in the cafe and the overgrown weeds surrounding the pool area. Wedmore Place, you need to do better and guests deserve better and have choices. The property falls far below expectations for such a beautiful town like Williamsburg and it deserves and requires a dedicated caretaker.

We loved the country European feel. The only downside is that we could hear the people staying above us walking around and moving things and just talking. We did enjoy our stay.
