"As the most convenient area to see the pink salt lake on the Yucatan Peninsula, the small fishing village can have this excessive hotel very content, but the sound insulation is relatively poor, a few Europeans and Americans downstairs drink and chat at night is very annoying, the hotel front desk staff said it can't control it."

Rest from the city vacation. Beautiful hotel, wonderful people. Who loves cats are part of the family here. Breakfast is unexcessed but delicious. Fresh fruit, fries of oranges. Mexican freshly cooked coffee. Hotel owner is family: Mom and daughter. Beautiful people will tell, advise, find). Now, by the way, time for the Languests. And from August 1, boom for the Oct. Who loves fresh seafood and cheap - all in Rio Lagartos)."

Hotel El Perico Marinero
8.3 (7 reviews)

Hotel El Perico Marinero ★★

📍 Calle 9, Malecon, Rio Lagartos

"We stayed here during our tour of Mexico. We stayed at 9 places, so I think we have a fair amount of comparison material. Let me start with the positive. The staff speaks little or no English, but they really try to help the guests. The rooms are quite spacious and our room had a view of the river. There was also a bag of freshly ground coffee. Unfortunately our sheets were not clean and that is a real turn-off. The breakfast at this hotel is really bizarrely bad. The worst we have eaten in Mexico. The pool is very nice, as are the sunbeds."

Yuum Ha Boutique Hotel

"Very well placed on the edge of the lago Three beautiful views Negative points: No pressure in the shower (not practical for long hair shampoo!)  Beautiful pool with sea view but green water !"

Hotel Punta Ponto ★★
"A small and family hotel in a beautiful place that is Rio Lagartos. The hotel has views of the river. Restaurants and shops to buy food, are a few minutes walk. Thanks to Roger for his warm attention, advice and recommending an excellent guide to Ariel to explore the natural reserve."

Hotel Villa de Pescadores ★★★
"Don't know how we could have topped this choice for our two night stay in Rio Lagartos. The off-street parking made us feel our rental car was safer and the view from our third floor balcony was beautiful. I got shots of Frigate birds flying right by our balcony in the evening. Sunset view from the roof is spectacular. You can even see Flamingos in the morning from the roof with binoculars. Felipe and his wife were excellent hosts and made us feel at home with special treats both days. (I am still looking for the chocolate and cinnamon covered ground pepita candy Felipe shared with us! Looked all over Merida, they were sooo good!) Felipe provided us with everything we needed from duct tape to a bottle of wine for our balcony bird watching. Another plus was that we found the bird watching guide we read about (Diego Nunez) right next door at his restaurant, El Torreja. Couldn't have been easier to line up a bird watching trip. Love this hotel! The absolute only negative was the loud rooster starting up around 3:30 am, but hey this is Mexico and we love being immersed in the whole ambiance. Beautiful place and we would totally stay here again. Seeing 1000's of Flamingos was like a dream come true."

"Great view! Yuum Ha Hotel location was very nice and right across from the malecon. The pool was better than expected and great for cooling off in. The staff were very friendly and especially Bernaby (Barnaby) and Julie. We loved walking to Sendero Peten Mac and making use of a mototaxista Juan who we used for an excursion to San Felipe and Las Coloradas and playa Cancunito. Juan has a mototaxi that has good shade and he was friendly and pointed out crocodiles in mangroves at the side of the road. It was only 20 minutes by mototaxi to San Felipe and 40 minutes to Las Coloradas. You can contact Juan through the hotel’s front desk staff. The posted hotel rules regarding no outside beverages or food even in rooms, seemed very unreasonable and so we ignored the rule. We did also eat and drink in the hotel restaurant area."
