"I spent a week in this village.. the second day I was there I had to ask for more attention to the cleanliness of the room. But the most "serious" thing is not this. The VERY SERIOUS episode took place on Sunday 20/08 when, on the last day I was supposed to be there, once I returned to the room I realized that some money was missing from my wallets, finding my things out of place. Obviously I immediately informed the management, and the attitude towards me was one of total negligence!! Very important thing to say is that the water from the taps in the rooms was SALTY and it had not been communicated!! (A NOTICEABLE INCONVENIENCE). The positive things were only and exclusively: The sea and some entertainers (Giulia and Mattia)!! Maestro Mariano Verga who plays and sings like God!! The Lifeguard!!! In summary TO FORGET."

"We really enjoyed our 2 week stay. Room was lovely with great views over the tyrrhennian sea with a stunning sunset over Stromboli volcano, we also had a good view of the evening entertainment which finished at around 11pm, 1 night it finished about 11:20, so didn't disturb our sleep. The rooms were cleaned to a good standard. The shower was great with multiple settings and always had hot water. The staff were in the main very friendly always made the time to talk if you wanted. Reception staff are very helpful. The train station is a 10 minute walk away, which we used to go to Tropea a couple of times (10 minutes away €1.40) Scilla (1 hour away €4.80) Pizzo (1 hour away €4.80). Download the trenitalia app very easy to use. Entertainment was good fun. There was plenty to do throughout the day such as yoga, water aerobics, a walk out to Capo vaticano, latin dance classes, shuffleboard jenga, tic tac toe, paddle competitions plus fun quizes. You could also play French boules and table tennis or use the gym all free of charge plus pool for €2. (Yet we had people telling us the hotel was boring and had nothing to do) Gatano was great he works so hard around the pool doing the aerobics classes and was very informative on the walk. The food is very good for an all inclusive buffet restaurant. I find it confusing to hear people complaining that the food is repetitive. Breakfast had the usual continental hotel selection plus every day you have a choice of at least 4 pasta dishes, 3 different pizza toppings all freshly cooked. Then each day you have 1 or 2 meat choices (admittedly it tended to be pork, chicken would be a nice option) and again 1 or 2 fish dishes including swordfish, tuna and salmon, with this you normally had the choice of chips, rice or plain pasta (everyday) then somedays you could have boiled, roasted or saute potatoes plus various veg dishes. A very large choice of fresh salad. Plenty of Italian cheeses were also on offer. Normally at least 3 cakes/pastries plus 4 flavours of ice-cream. You also had the rooftop pizzeria which was open 6 nights a week, you can use it every evening if you want, we used it twice. Not sure what else people except to be on offer. We paid around £100 each per day including flights and transfers, a good nights sleep, breakfast, lunch, evening meal and entertainment. Great value for money hotel."

"🇬🇧 A place to absolutely avoid, especially if you're traveling with children. We were four families of friends with children, and the seven-night stay was truly a nightmare. The property is potentially nice, but the rooms are dated, and there's a general feeling of abandonment. I'll describe my stay to you in every language I know so that no one else in the world will have such a negative experience that still upsets me today. The staff was rude and unhelpful from the moment we arrived, creating an unpleasant atmosphere throughout our vacation. The staff's only concern at check-in was collecting our payment and trying to sell us tours without giving us any useful information about our stay. We were the ones who asked what time breakfast was and how to book it, given that it was an extra charge of €10 per person. We were told it had to be booked the night before. When we got to our room, we noticed that the towels were missing, even though the website stated they were provided with the apartments. We went to reception and were told that towels could be rented for €5 per set. When we politely asked why the website stated otherwise, and why we hadn't been informed of this when booking, the receptionist replied, "I don't know!" In any case, we rented the towels, which were delivered within an hour! Back in our room, by then in the evening, we took a shower, but as soon as I turned on the hairdryer, I realized it wasn't working. I kindly informed reception, and they provided me with a new hairdryer after three days and several requests! On our first night, we decided to go to their place for dinner and asked to book breakfast (as instructed at check-in), but they told us they couldn't arrange for breakfast the next day. Dinner was truly terrible! The first courses were inedible and made with canned, not fresh, products (spaghetti with clams in a jar, for example). We ordered a bottle of wine and it arrived already opened! Totally unacceptable! But as kind and understanding people as we are, we thought the waiter (visibly awkward) might not know how to open a bottle, and we let it go. The pizza (even though it's an insult to call it that) was edible. That evening, I put the kids to bed, and I was about to close the door to their room when it literally collapsed on me because it wasn't secured in its tracks. It was lucky I closed it and not one of my kids, who could have seriously hurt themselves! I brought this matter to the attention of the staff the next morning, very kindly and without any argument. The door was fixed immediately, but at the end of our stay, I was accused of having removed the door from the tracks myself... madness! We had breakfast at their place with the few items they had at the bar, also taking care of spare parts."

"We cannot recommend Hotel Resort Tonicello highly enough. The only pity for us was that we did not stay longer. Good food, amazing team/staff, beautiful pool and pool area, practically on the beach. We are a family of five and we all truly fell in love with this place. It is amazing value for money (we stayed off season in mid October). The view at breakfast time (if you can ignore the wasps) is breath taking."
