"The room was spacious, and so was the bathroom. The toiletries were quite basic. The sea view was absolutely beautiful; every night, I drifted off to sleep with the sound of the waves, and it wasn't noisy at all. The building I stayed in didn't have an elevator, but there was staff to help with luggage. Breakfast wasn't great; although there was a lot of fruit, it would be better to just pay for something else. The food in the restaurant tasted pretty good though."

"The hotel is relatively close to the airport, and you can walk to the city's restaurants in about ten minutes. The basic room type looks very simple but it's clean. There are no duvets, only sheets, so if you're sensitive to cold, you can grab a blanket from the closet. It has direct beach access, and even on cloudy days, the scenery is beautiful with many stunning rocks. The breakfast is so basic that there aren't even eggs, and you have to pay extra for hot food, which is also really bad."

"Everything is expensive when you travel to the Cook Islands. The so-called buffet breakfast here is just bread, cereal, instant coffee, and one or two types of fruit. Everything else costs extra. However, the environment is quite nice. The beach to the right of the hotel is a great spot for snorkeling, with lots of fish."

"Very nice dinner at the restaurant of this resort. I had the steak while my husband had the catch of the day (tuna). It has a lovely ambience. We were sitting inside right by the outdoor area and got a good breeze. As the evening wore on, the bugs started coming out - their bug spray was not helpful. They should have some fans scattered around for better air circulation."

"The view from our upstairs apartment room 506 was insane! The rooms were very large and well appointed. Snorkelling was amazing right out the front. Walking distance to Vaima's restaurant which is one of the best on the island. Handy having Wigmore's Supermarket across the road. Only downside was the noise and light at night. It is such a busy hub till late being the only 24/7 supermarket, so a lot of road noise, the rehab party bus stopping outside at night and dogs hanging around and barking. You could hear roosters but they were nothing in comparison to the rest of the noise. The curtains were very see through at night, so we had to get extra blankets to hang up etc to try to make the rooms dark enough at night. The front door is glass so light streamed in from the big outdoor lights so we had to put a mattress up against it to block the light and a bit of the noise as well. All in all, it is a great place with great facilities, amazing beach and views, very lovely staff but if you are a light sleeper then you may struggle."

"Simple but large and very comfortable and super quiet apartment on the edge of Muri Lagoon (swimmable from the jetty when the current is not strong and there is a swimming pool and kayaks). We have stayed at those apartments 8 times in the last 25 years. We love the feel of the place and we hope they will not change: they are not luxurious but they are very clean, bright and very well appointed with a great vibe. Desiree the insite manager is fantastic and keep the place in great shape and make sure the guests have what they need. We stayed 9 nights but could have stayed much longer. We will be back of course and we hope it will stay the same!"

"Rumours Luxury Villas and Spa is rated number one among 5 star options on Rarotonga year after year for a reason. It is excellent on all fronts. The accommodations are excellent, the service is excellent, and the location is excellent. We stayed in the Beachfront Platinum Villa for a week over Christmas/New Year of 2023/24. The Villa itself is amazing with a spacious main living area and Kitchen, two ocean facing primary bedrooms with beautifully designed bathrooms, a private pool and jacuzzi, and I believe what had to be largest private deck closest to the ocean in the Muri Beach area. This deck is where we spent every morning drinking coffee, and in the evening watching the sunset, and later staring at the amazing stars on display. Everything about this villa was superb. The staff were also amazing, including Toni and John who were always very helpful and friendly with lots of tips and advice, as were the rest of the staff! The experience was so good we are going back the end of next month and are staying in the same Villa. The fact that we are returning for a second trip says a lot, as does the fact that I am writing this review, which I don't often do. If you are going to Rarotonga, choose Rumors, and if the Platinum Villa is available, I would highly recommend you choose it. Thanks to everyone at Rumours Luxury Villas and Spa and see you again very soon."

"The villa, although not new, is well-maintained and equipped with everything necessary. The owner is accommodating and responsive. We checked in on December 30th and discovered the air conditioning in one bedroom wasn't working. We called the contact number, and they arranged for it to be repaired on December 31st! Special thanks. We asked for masks and fins, and they arrived within an hour. We asked for an extra hour, and they agreed without complaining, even though the cleaners arrived on time and waited for us to vacate the villa. FYI: The villa consists of two identical two-story villas, each with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen, and everything else. These villas are not connected, but if you have a large group or family, it's easy to access each other via the beach or through the front doors. Disadvantages: The swimming pools at both villas are not on the seaside, but in the courtyard. The sliding doors to the first-floor bedroom are already outdated and in need of replacement. The front and side windows lack blackout curtains, something that has long been implemented even in hotels and villas of a much lower class, but less recent."

"We arrived late afternoon on a Monday, reception was welcoming and friendly. Our bags were taken from us and delivered to the door. The receptionist had booked us into the restaurant OTB which is attached to the resort. We sat back exhausted from our trip and just grinned at each other. Complimentary bottle of Moet in the fridge, a fruit platter and cold glasses. This was day one. We stayed 8 nights and couldn't find fault with anything. A decent pool with lots of chaise lounges and shade if needed. Snorkeling, kyacking at the door. Bus into town if needed, Parking for a rental car or scooter. Staff went the extra mile. Will come back with family."
