Facilities/Amenities: The bungalows, though basic, are often praised for their clean, comfortable, and well-maintained condition. Some properties feature modern amenities like functional bathrooms, reliable electricity, and access to a restaurant serving quality meals.

The rooms are small, dirty and full of bugs. There is no hot water and the taps are caked and dirty. The glass entrance door does not lock from the outside so you cannot leave objects in the room because anyone can enter. There is not even a wardrobe in the room.

The best kept Secret in Rangiora
If you are looking for the ultimate secluded beach get away totally away from everything no cars roads or bikes..this is it. GILLIGANS ISLAND without the Skipper and Mary Ann! Nothing but untouched coast line and Palm trees. With that being Aotera Guest House offers very basic bungalows right on the stand steps away from the aqua blue sea. It is however no frills and very basic . No hot water or AC. But sometimes you have to give up the small luxuries in life if you cant afford the Conrad or Sofital and still seek absolute paradise! Far from it all the Captain will pick you up at the Marina and it is a 20 min boat ride to the Guest house.
The food is ok to decent- Beer is available
Beware if you walk down the beach. Along the way the only other property has doberman pincher dogs that have attacked toursists so be aware.

Disgusting food, rats in the restaurant during dinner, bed bugs, very dirty place, the food is not hygiene and awful bad quality. Owners don’t have any hospitality or kindness. I really don’t understand why the owners run a guesthouse. They seem not be interested in their customers. Is there any quality enforcement or inspection of official third parties of this place?

This property was misrepresented on the ******* website. No restaurant, bar, coffee shop. Maybe a washing machine. The wireless’s internet only worked in the main building which was open and mosquito ridden. The sheets were dirty! The floor was filthy, the outdoor furniture was broken, the hot water in the shower didn’t work, there shower head was blocked and water sprayed everywhere. The faucet on the sink didn’t really work and when turned on the shower ran. There was minimal breakfast and dinner was what they served at a basic table with dirty glasses and a plastic table cloth. We were supposed to stay three days, we lasted less than 24 hours. The place needs to be shut down

We stayed at this pension on the private motu! It was absolutely amazing. We were alone with a Polynesian family who were very friendly. There is an amazing long white sand beach with hints of pink sand! We did a walk around the motu which was beautiful. The main island of Rangoria is not very nice so staying here was incredible. We took the boat shuttle to the main town for diving and it’s a thirty minute journey. The man who drives the boat is very skilled and safe. Stephan was very helpful and answered all our questions and helped drop us off at the airport and the pearl farm so we could make a quick visit!

My two adult kids and I stayed here for 5 nights in Dec. 2013/Jan. 2014. The bungalows are basic, but fine, and they are right next to the beach which is fabulous. Beautiful long beach with white sand, and absolutely gorgeous blue water for swimming. There is also an inland lagoon about a 2 minute walk away that is extraordinarily beautiful and peaceful - can swim there too. The location is remote - about a 30 to 45 minute boat ride from the "town" including the dive shops. The extremely friendly and helpful hosts will arrange a ride to the dive centers, and my kids dove twice with Yaka Pongee and had a terrific time. However, it is not as easy to dive from this more remote location than if you were staying on the main atoll. On the other hand, Motu Aotera offers a very relaxed and beautiful setting if you want to have a feeling of a remote paradise. The hosts are lovely and serve excellent French food for all meals.

I would give this place 5 stars if it was not for some other specifications I will mention below.
Aotera Guest House is located in a fantastic place for those that want to live really close to nature, which we love. It is around 25 minutes by boat from Avatoru Marina. The pension has a boat that takes travelers to the village in the morning and returns in the evening. If you go to the village in the morning, you will have to come back to the pension in the evening.
I need to say that aside from being located in a fantastic, isolated and beautiful place (just for nature lovers), the business is not really oriented to help customers with different needs and , in a way, misguides travelers from what is expected according to the descriptions that can be read when booking,
It appears like it is a bed and breakfast place ( breakfast is not included), where you have a snack vending machine and a sort of «supérette » (in French a little market with basic things)… Well, none of those exist. So you can feel yourself “trapped” in a place where you have to eat the only course that they cook for the day, no choices.
This kind of information is not given in any description of the place. Once you go there you feel helpless since you are 25 minutes away by boat from the village and there is only one way trip to it in the morning and one way trip back to the pension in the evening. You are forced to eat what they offer at prices you may not like. So,what would be a great solution for the owner to avoid this inconvenience , to travelers? The owner should inform how the business works so travelers have the chance to buy their own food before getting to the guest house. If you are sick, you’d better have everything you need with you before staying there.
On the other hand, some basic investments could be done in order to make the travelers’ lives easier: what about a microwave in every bungalow or in the lounge for common use? what about a broom to remove the sand from the bungalows when you step in barefoot or a doormat to clean your feet before you enter the bungalow?
Those are basic things that could improve every traveler’s experience at Aotera Guest House.
Again, the place is in a secluded, fantastic location. And our experience with nature was unforgettable.

Viel Potential wenig Umsetzung. Organisation/ Kommunikation sind A und O.
