Newly opened and family run, this boutique hotel is located right on the western edge of Malta. For those looking to get out of the big cities and experience the Blue Grotto from land or by boat, this is a great choice. The terraced dining experience allows you to watch the sunset over the sea while enjoying an exquisite taste of Malta and what the Mediterranean has to offer. The service of both the family running Deep Blu and the staff is excellent, they go out of their way to help you and enhance your experience while traveling Malta.

Attention ⚠️ , theft, racket debit after stay on bank account without authorization!!! Already horribly expensive for a small room for two, they charged us another 80 euros for a single shampoo without warning us! No tact with customers, no respect, very noisy and no Clim in the corridors, not to mention the 🏊‍♂️ pool, which is inaccessible. The staff openly flirts with all the women, even those accompanied !!!! The cleaning service was unpleasant and intrusive. They take tourists for fools, run away !

Deep Blue: wonderful hotel This was a lovely hotel, luxurious room with nice bed, extra pillows, robes, quality soaps and great view. The breakfast was really good. Easy access for swimming. Only issue was that the reception was not open when we arrived and there was no way into the hotel. The hotel needs to have a way of buzzing the reception person from outside and also from the room for contact.

We booked a standard room with sea view for 3 nights and were given room 4 on the lobby level. As we arrived on a very late flight and didn’t get to the hotel until 2am we were provided instructions on how to enter the property. The room key and paper work was waiting on the reception desk when we arrived. The room was compact but had a lovely view of the sea and the furnishings were modern and functional. The bed was very comfortable and the air con worked well to keep the room cool despite the hot sun. Water was provided each day and there was a kettle for tea and coffee. The bathroom had a large rainfall shower and was quite spacious relative to the size of the bedroom. The hotel has a small gym with an exercise bike, multi gym and running machine in the Spa basement area. We did use the equipment although had to limit out workout as the aircon wasn’t strong enough to keep the room cool enough. There is also a sauna and small pool with jets which were a nice feature. Breakfast is served at the table in the bar area and has a decent range of options. The hot selection mainly being different egg options. We ate at the hotel’s restaurant Azure on our second night which was a Saturday and really enjoyed the food and service. The restaurant has a nice terrace with partial views of the sea. We had also booked a table for next evening (Sunday) but found the restaurant was closed when we went down to eat. We assumed that there was a misunderstanding when our booking was confirmed as it appears the restaurant closes on Sundays. Fortunately, the restaurant next door was open so we dined there. We very much enjoyed our 3-night stay in the hotel and it shows that the excellent family who run it are focussed on providing guests with a relaxing and comfortable stay. One point to note is that parking is only available in the public car park a few minutes’ walk away. As we arrived late, we had no problem finding a space but the cark park fills up during the day and it is impossible to find a space until late afternoon. There is a self-appointed parking attendant who demands ‘gratuities’ from anyone arriving or leaving which seems to be tolerated by the local authorities but is a form of harassment of tourists that ruins the welcoming feeling found in Malta. The boat tour for the Blue Grotto is a 2 minute walk away. We also walked 30 minutes from the hotel to the joint archaeological sites of Hagar Qim & Il Mnajdra and then a detour to the Il-Maqluba sinkhole in Qrendi on the way back taking in views of the coast and the Blue Grotto from above so didn’t need to move our car for that.

Wonderful location, the restaurant served food in a class of fine dining yet very affordable. Will definitely return
