Charmillion Club Resort

We went to Charmillion club as a family of 4 with two boys aged 13 and 9 during the half term school holiday. Let’s start with the positives as there were so many. The grounds of this hotel are absolutely stunning. The gardens are beautifully kept and the workers work tirelessly keeping the place spotlessly clean. The pool area is great and we were able to get sunbeds there and at the beach at anytime of the day. The beach is fantastic as is the coral reef and the boys enjoyed snorkelling every day seeing an array of rainbow fish. The pool and beach felt very safe for children with plenty of lifeguards who were always very attentive. The staff were all so lovely and so we made sure to tip them well. We brought Egyptian pounds to tip in but actually, Euros or US Dollars are fine for this. The bar staff remembered your drinks and had them waiting for you. The food was plentiful and we always found something that we enjoyed. For 35 US dollars we were able to get a days pass to the water park at the sister hotel next door which was a fab day and a great way to break up the week for the kids. The negatives were the rooms were a little dated and very dark, could do with some more lights and a refresh of the decor and a couple more electrical sockets. However the main reason I didn’t give this 5 stars was the endless sales people harassing you around the pool. It was constant, especially during our first 3 days, we couldn’t relax for more than 5 minutes without someone approaching trying to sell us a massage, desert buggy trip or diving. I understand they have to make a living but we go on holiday to relax and it felt quite awkward especially as some were quite pushy. One in particular, Roma even had a go at my husband for booking a massage with someone else and not him. Overall an absolutely stunning resort and location just limit the sales people and I would return.

We had a great experience with this being our second time at the same hotel, the staff and chefs are amazing, and great pool entertainment.

We arrived around 10.30pm and were really impressed to be told that food would be available between 11pm and 2am, which was such a nice touch after travelling. The room was spacious and clean, and although the beds were not twin as requested, reception sent someone within 10 minutes to sort it. We also noticed a loose balcony door lock which maintenance repaired the next morning. Waking up to the sea view was absolutely breathtaking. Food and Drink: Breakfast offered plenty of variety and the omelette station was a favourite, fresh and cooked to order. Fruit and bread were both excellent, but much of the buffet food at breakfast, lunch and dinner was only lukewarm unless it came from a live cooking station. Wine was only served in the restaurants and was not great. Most soft drinks were full sugar and cocktails tasted overly sweet and syrupy. Service in the main restaurant was disappointing. Staff seemed rushed and disengaged, often clearing tables without acknowledging guests and blocking the walkways. It felt more like a canteen than a 5 star dining experience. A la Carte: We tried the Lebanese restaurant which had lovely dips, bread and grilled meats. The dessert, however, was very heavy and overly sweet. Facilities and Entertainment: The pool area was great with friendly lifeguards and bar staff who worked hard to keep everyone happy. Unfortunately, the animation team were quite poor. The main entertainer was loud, constantly performing and made it feel more like an 18 to 30s resort. The so-called “African Night” was disappointing and culturally off, lasting only 20 minutes with hotel staff dancing to pop music and a song called “Zumba”. Tip: You will need to tip if you want service. Overall, there were some lovely moments such as the view, the pool and some excellent staff, but this is not the 5 star resort it is marketed as. It is closer to a good 3 star experience.
