Cabinas Jimenez

Cabinas Jimenez ★★

📍 50 meters to the right from the town entrance, Puerto Jimenez

"I felt like I was part of the family. While staying at Cabinas Jimenez I went fishing, birding, whale watching, biking, paddle boarding, hiking and read a couple of books. On my first day I saw a whale from my room. The next day I went paddle boarding from Cabinas and saw a whale and a baby. The next day I followed seven whales across the gulf on my paddle board! Scarlet Macaws and toucans are easy to find, not to mention sea turtles and dolphins. This is just an unbelievable place! The staff don't feel like staff, they feel like friends. The owner and the rest of the team do whatever they can to make sure you are having a pleasant experience. There is a million dollar view from the room. The room is very clean and well stocked with everything I needed to make my own meals. The boat tour from Cabinas was unmatched with anything I have ever done on the water. It is very convenient to walk or bike to town including a well stocked grocery store and many restaurants. This was such a wonderful experience it will be so hard to leave. The good news is I am sure to come back!"

Botanika Osa Peninsula, Curio Collection by Hilton

Botanika Osa Peninsula, Curio Collection by Hilton ★★★★

📍 Peninsula de Osa, Costado Sureste del aeropuerto. Bahia Cocodrilo Pto Jimenez, Puerto Jimenez

"Very nice resort with high quality equipment. Very nice are also the pool and the pool bar. Super we also found the fitness area. Very large and excellently equipped. We found it not so nice that there was little daylight in our room (standard room in the ground floor) and the restaurant. At breakfast and dinner were not all the options good. The staff at the restaurant was very overloaded at times of impact. Consequently, lack of coordination and long waiting times. However, they were always very friendly. We would always be asked proactively for allergies, but the answer (no wheat) to it was always ignored and not taken into account at any time. A frechness was the breakfast to go, when we had to go before breakfast: a untoasted flavorless toast bread and a apple for say and write 15 USD. That's not possible! What has disturbed us very much is the hotel's client, or at least part of it that is most negative: larger groups of Americans, for holidays is equal to a collective beauty. These groups were always very noisy at the pool and restaurant accordingly. That has made the relaxation partly impossible."

Maze Lodge
9.3 (17 reviews)

Maze Lodge ★★★

📍 Sendero de Miramar, Puerto Jimenez

"This was an excellent lodge to stay at. The host had everything organized for us as soon as we arrived, including groceries delivered to our bungalow. The bungalow was clean and had working AC. The host also helped us plan all our excursions, along with transport to and from. We recommend the canopy tour, which is on a neighboring property, and we saw plenty of monkeys and birds. Also, would recommend the Sirena tour, which leaves from the dock in the town (need transportation there). Our guide was excellent. Our favorite by far was the Golfo Dulce boat tour. We opted for a private tour with Josh, and we were so amazed. He had snacks and took us to all the hotspots in the area. We saw a huge pod of dolphins and sea turtles, got to fish (catch-and-release), and went snorkeling. It was an amazing trip; he and his captain were excellent hosts. In summary, we would highly recommend this lodge. It was quiet and serene. We went in April, which was still dry season, and got no rain at all (and pretty minimal bugs for a rain forest). You may want a 4x4 vehicle if you are driving yourself (the road to the lodge is 10-15 minutes of bumpy, unfinished road off their main street)."

Corcovado Beach Lodge
8.2 (23 reviews)

Corcovado Beach Lodge ★★

📍 GPQ2+P38, Puntarenas Province, Puerto Jimenez

"We had the feeling of disturbing when we arrived, the questions were wrong. The owner is a smart pleasure to terrorize his clients with anxious stories and has a lot of trouble to spend your stay. If you want a safe place, I do not recommend. "

"Very nice rooms and dinning area. Some of the rooms don't' have air conditioning but fans are provided. The food was amazing!! We were feed three delicious meals a day! Elena was the lady in charge and she was super sweet! Would stay there again! It was also right across the street from the bodega if you needed anything for your stay."

Corcovado Private Villas
9.1 (27 reviews)

Corcovado Private Villas ★★★

📍 Calle Griffin, Cañaza, Peninsula de Osa, Puerto Jimenez

"Everything is dated, poorly furnished, no room service, and only one towel. The whirlpool in the honeymoon suite was partially broken, and there was no water or coffee/tea in the room. Breakfast was sometimes 1 km away from the villas. The food and drinks were the worst we've had so far on our multi-week tour. Although the location is magnificent, we wouldn't recommend it and hope the place gets renovated, as the location deserves it. P.S.: The very heavy gate at the entrance must be operated manually by guests."

Ventanas en Corcovado

Ventanas en Corcovado ★★

📍 Puntarenas, Puerto Jimenez, dos brazos de rio tigre, 600mts sur de la escuela, Puerto Jimenez

"I am writing this review at the hotel, watching water vapour rise off the trees, and many colourful birds in the wild and beautiful garden. The hotel used to be a conservation centre, and you can see why. Rosi, has just made me a hearty and delicious breakfast to set me up for the day. Where Brian (Rosi’s son) will be taking me on a local guided trek of the rainforest. I then embark on a chocolate tour, organised for me by Carlos (Rosi’s husband), who has been incredibly welcoming. Their enthusiasm for birds and nature is infectious! The treks, guides and local knowledge is second to none. A truly remarkable stay, would recommend to anyone wanting to switch off, relax and be surrounded by natural beauty. Pura Vida"

El Remanso Rainforest Lodge Hotels in Puerto Jimenez

El Remanso Rainforest Lodge

"El Remanso was the best vacation experience our family has ever had. The level of service and attention to detail is unmatched. From picking us up at the airstrip in Puerto Jimenez with cold water and towels, to the coffee delivery every morning at 5am, everything was thoughtful and delivered with care. The staff are all so kind and welcoming. We had great experiences on our excursions. The guides are incredibly knowledgeable and we saw so much wildlife. Our bungalow had a fantastic view. I was very worried about the lack of air conditioning but it was not a problem at all. Be prepared to be woken up early to the sounds of the rainforest. We did have some issues with hearing our neighbours very early (4am) so bring ear plugs if you might be sensitive to these noises. We did encounter some mosquitoes but only for about an hour around 4pm. The food was delicious and the menu varied. We wished we could have stayed longer in order to try more things on the menu. I am already dreaming about when we can come back. This place has ruined me for all future vacations. I don't know how anything else will be able to compare!"

Blue Osa Beach Resort & Spa Hotels in Puerto Jimenez

Blue Osa Beach Resort & Spa

"We had a wonderful stay at the Blue Osa resort in Costa Rica. The staff, the food, and the spa were definitely the highlights. Everyone was super attentive and friendly. Each meal was so thoughtfully prepared by their staff and was absolutely delicious. I want all of my all inclusive stays to have meals like this one! We upgraded to the spa detox package (which is totally worth) and had some wonderful treatments by their specialists. During our stay, there was an advanced 300 hour YTT program taking place, so at points it felt like Aaron (resort founder) was more focused on them. We were also sometimes taught by the YTT students (which is great practice for them, but candidly, the class wasn't to the same level as the more experienced teachers). I'm a yoga teacher myself and it's extremely hard to teach, so I don't want to knock people who are learning, but we are paying for a yoga experience, and if there's only one class per day, I want to get my money's worth. Overall we had a very positive experience. The internet detox was much needed, and the immersion in nature was a great way for us to escape the hustle of NYC. The yoga experience was a bit lacking (again coming from a trained yoga teacher in NYC, which has a very athletic yoga scene, so this was a lot more chill/relaxed/less intense)."

"Tonight is our last night here and we are so bummed to be leaving. This place is so charming. The staff is friendly, helpful, and kind. It is right on the water with the most beautiful views and a surrounded by nature. It is minutes from the airstrip and is at the end of the road that goes through the community. That made it super convenient to visit the bank, the grocery store and the local restaurants. We are definitely coming back."

Maze Lodge ★★★
"We spent four wonderful nights at Maze Lodge, and it was easily one of the highlights of our time in Costa Rica. The property feels like a hidden oasis in the heart of the Osa Peninsula - peaceful, beautifully maintained, and completely immersed in nature. One of the most memorable aspects of our stay was the incredible wildlife. Every day we spotted something new right on the property, from colorful birds and monkeys to other fascinating creatures that make this region so special. Waking up to the sounds of the jungle and being surrounded by such biodiversity was truly magical. The atmosphere at the lodge is incredibly tranquil. Whether relaxing by the pool, enjoying a morning coffee while watching wildlife, or simply listening to the sounds of nature, it felt like the perfect place to slow down and reconnect. I especially loved doing yoga on the outdoor platform surrounded by the jungle. Practicing with fresh air, tropical greenery, and the sounds of nature all around created an unforgettable experience that perfectly captured the spirit of the Osa Peninsula. The location is also fantastic, with easy access to nearby surf spots and the many natural attractions the area has to offer. After a day of adventure, returning to the calm and comfort of the lodge felt like coming back to a private sanctuary. The combination of beautiful surroundings, abundant wildlife, tranquility, and warm hospitality made our stay truly special. We would happily return and stay even longer next time!!"

"What to say... Beau lieu le long de la baie et proche de l'embarcadere. Chambre simple, pas très propre mais spacieux. Le gros bâmol... le service. The reception is closed most of the time - the reception by the poor boss - no question, not even our name or program, no cleaning of the rooms. We stayed 3 nights, literally nobody for lunch the first morning, the second, we left very early for Corcovado, lunch arrived at 20:00. There would be a cost-cut and simply a minimum of attention for the clients."

"Our stay was absolutely amazing! The home and scenery are breathtaking and something we'll never forget. The house was spotless, comfortable, and had everything we needed, including comfortable beds, A/C, dishwasher, washer & dryer, excellent water pressure, a water cooler, and great Wi-Fi. Richie truly made our vacation unforgettable. He went above and beyond with every request, even taking our laundry daily while the washer and dryer awaited parts. The house, pool, and hot tub were beautifully maintained throughout our 12-day stay. The best part was disconnecting from technology and reconnecting as a family. We barely used our phones because we were enjoying nature and making memories. Richie even took us to his hometown on his day off, giving us an authentic Costa Rican experience we'll always cherish. Diego's meals were outstanding, Marcela was incredibly helpful, and everyone treated us like family. We can't wait to return!"

"At that price, you expect more than just water at the bar. The showers are cold. Admittedly, the place is secluded and the rooms are very nice, but that doesn't justify the prices. Communication with the managers (whom we never met) was difficult, and they kept changing the rates. Finally, the cook is incredibly unfriendly; basically, we made her sweat. On the other hand, the guide they found for us, Jerry, and the intermediary who replaced the owner, Juan, were excellent."

"Super nice hotel very clean and central, and cheap. Good air conditioning, warm and strong shower, comfortable beds. The family is very helpful and kind. The price is definitely very low for the quality of the room and of the service. It really feels like being at home. You can help yourself with tea, coffee and cacao."
