overall a pretty good hotel. did self catering which was worth it upon looking at other reviews about the food. the spar shop is literally a 2 minute walk opposite and sells pasta, sauces etc to make in the room. we had a jumbo double room so that included a hob and microwave which made it easy to make food. taxis are around €4-€5 into the busy “strip” which has loads of bars and restaurants. honourable mention for mr pasta. best food ever. especially the spinach and mozzarella one lol. the best bar/club for young people (we’re all 18) is ruta 66. cocktails are €9 and definitely worth your money as they fill the glasses half way with alcohol. the beach opposite the hotel is pretty good however it’s worth buying the sun loungers for the day as the wind picks up and can be very irritating when sand is everywhere. it was €28 for 5 of us so around €5.60 each which is pretty good considering it’s all day and right by the sea. there’s also a restaurant/ bar next to the hotel called marcos which again is good for the price and easy to walk to after a long day. the hotel also has a pool bar which has the best smoothies i think i’ve ever had for €6 which is good for when you’re by the pool. the pool was never too busy and there was always a good chance of finding sunloungers. the one issue we had with our room was that our door took a few attempts to lock and at one point didn’t lock at all but reception helped fix it pretty quick. also the shower curtain isn’t fixed onto the wall and is pretty much wedged in and balancing so don’t put the pressure on the shower up too high as you will fight for your life attacking the curtain and inevitably pull it down with you.

Just returned from staying here this week. What a fantastic stay! The room was spacious, very clean, and had all the amenities we required for a self-catering stay. Towels were refreshed regularly, and the beds were made for us. A cleaner came in a tidied up, which was lovely. The private balcony was amazing with fantastic views of the beach and surrounding area. All three receptionists were really helpful and a credit to the hotel. We were made to feel very welcome, and they were always willing to help us when required. We were allowed to check in early as our room was ready, and we extended our room on the last day without any fuss at all. We will be back and will book directly in the future. Thank you for a lovely stay

Gets some bad rap for being outdated. I can see where that comes from BUT I couldn’t fault it for a 3 star. Paintwork flaking in parts and furniture outdated but perfectly functional. We stayed in Block B, had a huge 2 bed apartment with large balcony and sun terrace above both of which had furniture, table and 4 chairs plus 2 sun-loungers and a clothes horse for drying your clothes, bring clothes pegs as it gets pretty windy. No elevator in the Block accommodation so not suitable if you have mobility issues, we were up 3 flights of stairs. Kitchen very basic, bring tea towels, a washing up brush and washing up liquid. Fridge has a small freezer section, no ice tray so maybe bring your own. Breakfast was plentiful and very tasty, staff very pleasant also. Beach right across the road, sunloungers €7 each or 2 for €10.50 including a parasol obviously, great value I think. Spar supermarket next door is large and has a great selection of the essentials, a bottle of good white wine for €6.50, can’t go wrong there. Buses very inexpensive, take the 161 bus from the airport to right by the hotel for €1.40 single. Taxi to Puerto del Carmen from the hotel less than €5. Lots of lovely restaurants and bars within walking distance . We hired e-bikes for 2 days, cost was €64 for 2 bikes. Had great fun cycling to Puerto del Carmen etc and all along the coast. Highly recommended for location.

Stayed 8 nights, solo female traveller, I emailed the hotel to ask for a ground floor apartment due to walking issues...when I arrived late in the evening, a lovely man on reception honoured my request and showed me to my apartment behind reception close to pool and spar supermarket....I had read bad reviews...but I was pleasantly surprised...large apartment with great walk in shower...plenty of hot water...fresh towels every day, comfy bed and the kitchen was fine...with everything needed...yes outdated furniture and tired, but clean...the only thing I missed was air conditioning, as the nights could be hot to sleep in.....lovely terrace with sun loungers and washing rack....I had to pay for wifi 15 pounds...but it worked fine.....housekeeping was most days....very close to the huge beach, and lovely walks into Matogorda....pool was lovely, although cold, and plenty of beds....staff were lovely in all areas....I love this place...but would love more if it had air conditioning......don't be put off by bad reviews...lovely stay...

Basic room facilities but kept very clean. Lovely helpful staff and the setting is handy for local restaurant's and bus/taxi stops. View from our balcony to the sea was good too. It was a shame that the poolside snack bar shut so early and did not open daily. Enjoyed the peace of the area and the ease of the walks around it.

I don’t know how or why you could give a negative review it’s a nice cheap holiday Staff are so nice. I like that it’s quite no sun bed stealing and so fourth. I like that it’s away from the main strip. Yes the rooms are a little outdated but so what it’s clean and when you’re on holiday you’re not going to be sitting in the room too much. The only criticism I have is the beds is very hard. It’s my second time staying in Costa Mar and it’s perfect for what I’m looking for a quite relaxing holiday.

Arrived as a couple for the 2nd week in September. Booked last minute so didn’t know what to expect. Had read mixed reviews, especially about the food being poor or cold - total nonsense. We were half board so got breakfast which was limited enough if you were expecting a full fry every morning but plenty of fruit, yoghurts, cereals, eggs, bread, juice, etc. The dinner never failed to impress - a couple of hot choices every night - chicken, pork chops, lamb, turkey, beef meatballs, pasta, fish and plenty of salad. Chips most might. Also soup, rolls and plenty of cakes and ice cream. Great value! The menu can be quite traditional and not very child friendly if you have a fussy eater expecting pizza and chips. The only complaint I would have is that you have to pay for bottled water with your dinner - €2 a bottle each which is not expensive but I would have thought the water would be free. All drinks go on your room bill and are payable on checkout. The pool area is lovely - very clean and no sun bed wars that we saw. The pool is split in 2 with a deep section and a shallower section. Only downside is the pool bar - very expensive at €4 for a pint of Tropical and €5 for a pint of Magners. This compares badly with most other bars. The pool snacks seemed reasonably priced. Had a one bed apartment in block A on floor 3. Had a huge balcony overlooking the road and fabulous Pocillos beach. The apartment was typical Spanish style and spotless. It was cleaned 5 days out of the 7 we were there. The staff are the real success of this hotel - from reception to the restaurant to the pool bar to the exceptional cleaning staff. Everyone was most friendly and efficient. The hotel is set out in blocks in a horseshoe shape - our block was at the front while others go around the back of the pool and reception. There are no lifts so request ground floor if needed. There is no air conditioning in some apartments but the website does say this. You can pay for it in certain apartments - we just opened the patio doors and a window in the bedroom, which had a mosquito net to keep out the bugs. (Didn’t actually see any!) The hotel is in an ideal flat location. Great walks to the left to Matagorda or to the right to the main strip. The beach opposite is pure class! There is a huge Spar next door and a very handy pharmacy. A few restaurants but nothing hectic in our view. Please remember that this is a 3 star hotel. It certainly lives up to that and more. Folk should not expect or be critical of things that you would find in a 4 or 5 star hotel that the Costa Mar doesn’t have. We have booked to return as a family next June.

Don't like giving negative reviews but the costa mar does not have alot going for it. Cleaning was hit and miss no fresh towels for 5 days had to go to reception for clean ones. Big rooms but badly in need of update so old and dingy no comfortable seats, pillows like sacks of spuds had to go and buy my own. Food was same every day was cooked well but chicken rice pork and chips soon gets boring. Pool area was OK and reception staff we're good. Would I return no not until it has had a revamp.

Hi. My Wife, Boy 14, Nephew 13 and I enjoyed our trip to Costa Mar, we have been to the island before but first time here. We found that the accommodation was ok, great balcony with amazing view of the sea and mountains, pool area was very nice and never busy, great that not one person reserved beds. We spent some of our days on the beach which if you go to the right there are some nice wind shelters made from the rocks. Supermarket, bars and restaurants very nearby and the food at Costa Mar was ok, not loads of choice but we all managed to find something that we enjoyed each morning and night. We hired a car and went surfing at a Beach called Famara for the day which was lovely and then spent a day at Playa de Papagayo which is one of the best beaches on the island. Few negatives were: No drinking water available at dinner, the water machine that is on at breakfast should be left on for evening meals so you can help yourself. Be prepared that there is a not huge amount to do for children, missing a snooker or pool table around the pool or a ball court to play games, although we made sure this did not affect our stay. I would return, staff were all very friendly and helpful.

Another fantastic stay at Costamar hotel, this was our 3rd visit here and already looking to book September/October. We visit the island as often as we can and will always look to book this hotel as we like it here and restaurants are near by or more just a short walk away. Everyone we spoke to around the pool seemed to be enjoying their stay here. We was in ‘block A’ this time and room was clean and tidy but like in my previous review of the place the furniture is old fashioned and has seen better days but didn’t bother us as we wasn’t inside the room for too long as we went by the pool or relaxed on our balcony. The pool area is kept tidy and clean but pool is cold in these months i guess however we went in a few times and other people was using the pool too. Cleaners came in the room around 4 or 5 times during our week there. The guys on reception are extremely helpful and friendly and was great to see David on reception again 😃 For the price we have payed staying here id definitely say its great value for money, remembering it’s a 3 star hotel 👍🏼

Can not fault this place we arrived staff were great we had 1 bedroom apartment with balcony and terrace. Rooms cleaned daily outdoors gardens well looked after breakfast has everything you need. Have seen people complain about the showers not being powerful but that didn't bother me. Small swing park for kids lots of buckets and spades to play in the sand and never that busy when we were there. We have been in lanzarote 2024 3 times this year and was the best location for us as a family it's not hilly not to busy can walk to matagorda and walk into the busier part of puerto del carmen. We have re booked costa mar for Christmas new year we enjoyed it here and the amazing views from our balcony

This hotel gets some unnecessary stick for some reason which is unwarranted in my opinion! It’s a decent 3 star hotel we had a lovely 2 bed apartment overlooking the ocean very spacious balcony ( we only booked a one bed) ok a bit dated, lovely super king bed frequent maid service lovely hot shower we found it ideal! Plenty of choice for breakfast fresh fried eggs nice bacon. Evening meal always plenty to choose from even for the most fussy eaters, chicken, pork, fish always plenty of chips! Ideal location with Matagorda and the strip within walking distance! Recommend Marco’s bar nearby for live music and the footy. All in all we enjoyed our two weeks at this hotel.

Stayed on a half board basis (breakfast/evening meal) in January. I really enjoyed my stay, no complaints at all. My apartment was very clean and comfortable. Furnishings a tad old but perfectly practicable, and spacious. Food, was generally very good, with a decent choice, and replenished very quickly, only one evening I was left a little disappointed but all other meal services were very good. Very close to the airport and a 1 minute walk to the local Spar from reception, and only a few minutes to the beach or various bars or restaurants. Ideally located and very quiet and safe. The staff here, all excellent. All very polite and attentive, from my experience. Thank you for an enjoyable stay - I would happily stay again. 👍

It was my first time in Lanzarote and was pleasantly surprised when I opened my Costa mar aparthotel door the rooms were clean, spacious and extremely comfortable and well kept. I shall be using this place for any future holidays in Lanzarote, which will be soon. I’m was extremely pleased with my holiday in general but my residence made it . I would fully recommend this aparthotel.
