We had a 2 night stay at the Days Inn in Provo, Utah to attend BYU graduation. The location was chosen because of the close proximity to campus, allowing us to walk to our events. We knew we weren’t getting a high class hotel, but with the Wyndham name behind Days Inn, we expected better than what we found. First, I’ll start with the positive. In addition to the close proximity to the campus, we saw that the refrigerator worked great. There were hangers available for several items. There was a suitcase rack (always a plus). The sink area had plenty of space. The lamp next to the beds and one next to the cabinet had a working outlet to plug in electronics. The bedding appeared clean. The drapes covered the window well. The employees were very nice—both in checking in and checking out. The breakfast window time was good (6am – 9am) and the food available was not amazing, but sufficient. Among the things that shocked us were: the refrigerator had leftover food from the previous occupant. Also, there was a plastic fork, with food on it, stuck down the sink drain. It was disgusting! Even after I reported it to the office, we had that to look at throughout our stay. We were on the first floor, and every single noise above (including a crying baby) and around our room sounded like it was in our room. The only thing noisier was our bathroom fan. There was some sort of early dumpster pick up in the wee hours of the morning that woke us up. The front desk personnel were nice, but not always at the desk, and there wasn’t a way to call for them (no bell on the desk—just a sign letting us know they would be back in a moment). What is embarrassing beyond comprehension is the shoddy repair work around the room—from caulking to painting. I’ve never seen anything so sloppy!

The property hasn’t been upgraded since the founding of the city back a couple of centuries ago. Otherwise good quality/price and good location.

My wife woke up with bites and captured a bug on her pillow. We saved it and killed it in alcohol. Not an entomologist, but sure looks like a bedbug. Now trying to disinfect our belongings. Thank you Royal Inn! Also ice machine is dead and no real interest in that from the staff. Price is cheap, but you get what you pay for. I have the bug and a picture in case anyone is interested.
