The rooms in this hotel are clean and tidy. The hotel staff are warm and friendly, and their service is meticulous and patient. They helped me solve many problems. Although the hotel is not in the center of Dorchester, the surrounding facilities are relatively complete and parking is very convenient.

This is one of my favourite pubs and we visit often. Everything is excellent but please please clean the doors to the toilet. They are rather filthy! The toilets are usually clean but the doors need a good clean. The food is lovely, the wine is excellent and the service is great.

I felt singled out and bullied by management and felt I could not go through the proper channels of a complaint due to conflict of interest being the next step up in management (SL-DGM) is said member of staffs husband. Therefore he is not going to take my issue seriously. I took it further to GM and he said that that is just the way she is and the way she works. I’m all for getting the job done, and delegating jobs between staff, but a baseline of respect when asking someone to do something is common courtesy. Another issue with same said SL is using the facilities. A basic human right to use the toilet and I was sent home 8 hours early from my shift for doing so. This is not the first incident where she has had an overreaction to something simple. This is a power play on her position and reflected in my wages from her doing so. I have been told by a colleague that the GM has been going around telling staff that he suggested I leave before I got fired. Whereas I had no prior disciplinary action. Nor had we had a conversation about me losing my job. The only thing against me is I was sent home under investigation for a review I did not write. It was only after this I was bullied into handing in my notice. This is highly unprofessional from someone in his position. Staff should be able to go to their management and not worry about rumours being spread around about them. Disgraceful behaviour. Would not recommend visiting.

Room up the roof 4 th floor was dark and depressing. Immediately reported what appeared to be tea stain on mattress next to bedside table and bathroom light constantly flashing on and off. . No phone in room - l do not have smart phone . No pillow protectors ,just pillow case directly on to pillow. One leather arm chair in room has wooden arm joints not connected ,seat not supportive.Wobbly .Both arm chairs need good polish on wood . Could not use shower as needed to climb into bath to get to it .there is grab handle at far end but no support ,slip mat under the shower head No raised non slip bobbles in bath .Fear of a fall. Staff indifferent ,did imagine someone may have said o leaving “ How was your stay “ no conversation at all

A grand hotel in a very upmarket area. Close enough to the coast to enjoy all the resorts. Definitely the smartest hotel weve ever stayed in. Enjoyed a lovely weekend here. Would 100% stay again.

A great location in the centre of Poundbury, this establishment should really be the beacon and standard bearer as it has so much going for it…. It could be absolutely brilliant but… At breakfast, why don’t they have Duchy products rather than supermarket cheapest ? Even the soaps etc , there is absolutely no connection to the duchy, which is such a shame. All the staff who are amicable, young, efficient are not trained at all, there does not seem to be ANY management at all , at check in, in the bar, hotel or breakfast . Tables get left after guests have left and not cleared, ashtrays outside are overflowing. Perhaps the worst thing though is the overall cleanliness of the entire property. All the doors and windows were smeared with handprints, dust under the beds, hair in the bathroom , sticky floors, stained chairs, come on please ! I sound like Olga Pollizi!! A great shame, because it should and could be brilliant .
