Bracken Hide Hotel

Good view, amazing breakfast and staff. The only thing is, the shower temperature is a bit hard to adjust, it would be great to have a stool at room.

It is recommended to carry valuable items with you and not leave them in the hotel room, as we had a Nintendo Switch console + 5 games (worth about 500 euros) go missing from our locked room during the day while we were out. Our child played with it before we left and put it back in the box in the room, but when we returned in the evening, only the empty box remained. We reported this immediately to the hotel and engaged in a long email exchange, but it led nowhere, as the hotel took no responsibility, stating they have never had any incidents of missing items before and we have no proof that the console was truly gone. We’ve traveled a lot around the world and have never encountered such a situation. Our child’s trip was completely ruined, and the hotel offered no solution, instead blaming us. I do not recommend staying at this accommodation, as it’s easy for them to claim they’ve never had any items go missing when they refuse to acknowledge the situation.

Nice location and view, not cheap but good value for money compared to other alternatives on Skye.Excellent restaurant. Bathroom uncomfortably small, about 2 square meters. Very friendly staff.

I can only assume that either, things have changed at The Bracken Hide or, expectations should be more realistic. This gem of a place is wonderful. As the name suggests, the main building/hub disappears into the landscape (like a hide!) but when you enter the building, it has the wow factor in spades. Decor is fabulous. On arrival our bags were taken from our car in the car park and placed in our hide/pod. We received a warm welcome from all staff. The pod was comfortable and cosy, powerful shower with plenty hot water and great smelling toiletries. Air con was an added bonus. Wi-Fi was a bit slow but as I understand, free Wi-Fi was only rolled out across town centres in Skye from 2018 and is patchy in other areas. Breakfast was excellent and served like an afternoon tea with a tier for fruit, yogurt and granola and another tier with croissants and a choice of spreads. There is also a hot made to order breakfast menu and fruit juice, tea and coffee. Dinner was equally impressive. Booking for breakfast means the restaurant is not too busy and you can enjoy your food with the morning view. The sauna and plunge pool is great for trying cold water therapy, again, booking allows you to experience this without being over crowded. Finally, a huge shout out to all the staff who were super friendly, helped us plan a day sightseeing, made fabulous cocktails and genuinely cared about our stay. Highly recommend.

Lola and the rest of the team were amazing. Very friendly and accommodating. The hides were well maintained and comfortable. Plenty of parking and beautiful location. The internet was fine for me (hide 24) but my friends in the next cabin had some issues.
