The Killeshin Hotel Portlaoise

Location: The hotel is centrally located, making it convenient for visiting nearby attractions. It's a bit out of town, but the walk is enjoyable and offers access to areas like Kildare Village.

I stayed for four nights for work. I would recommend this hotel for sure. The rooms are very good. Great bed and bed linen, the bathrooms are great. The bath included is always a bonus. I do enjoy a bath. The food is very good - Cedar restaurant and breakfast was above expectations. Value for money was very good also.

Wouldn't really recommend to a friend. We stayed here last week midweek during midterm.. The rooms were outdated and the hotel was so cold. We booked a double room and we got a twin room instead. The window outside of our room at the end of the hallway also had a damp patch at the top of it. And the plaster was all brown and flaky. Didnt look good at all. The restaurant was closed and only opened on Friday and Saturday and we were told we had to order at the bar and eat at the bar. The interior of the bar was very tired, wooden trims around the boots were broken and some were hanging off. Food was very good though but a bit of the pricey side, 24.99 for a 6Oz steak sandwich is a bit steep! Would be expecting a minimum of an 8Oz for that price. Lots of people in the bar were complaining about the cold, an elderly couple beside us were complaining of the cold also, but also complimented the food. We used the pool,sauna and steam rooms. The pool was very cold for a hotel pool, steam room again was very outdated and cramped. Sauna was decent enough. The smell in the changing rooms was vile! There were a few people holding their tshirts up over their noses it was actually that bad. Lockers were old and no locks worked on any of them. Lots of cleaning products and chemicals were taking up about 6 lockers too. The gym is extremely tired looking, old rusty machines and most of the dumbell weights had rubber missing from them. The breakfast was great! Cannot fault it and the staff were so friendly at the bar and restaurant for breakfast. Overalls I wouldn't recommend thus to a friend due honour experience. For the money it was very disappointing for a midweek getaway with my wife.
