Salles Hotels Marina Portals

Stayed for a week in the 2 bedroom family room with 2 teenagers. We had a fabulous weeks holiday and we used the hotel as a base and if that’s what you are looking for then this hotel will work for you. Pros Room was very clean as were all areas of the hotel Staff were fantastic both at reception and pool side No shortage of loungers (or towels) Gym is great Location is fantastic Cons Only 1 bathroom in the 2 bedroom family room suite which was not ideal. There is hardly any wardrobe space and no drawers so we had clothes piled everywhere and ‘stuff’ so it felt very cramped. Beds are very soft, no bathrobes ever showed up, phone didn’t work and our cups and glasses were never changed. Water pressure not good and on one day we had tepid water all day Food is super basic. Breakfast was so dull and very little choice. Kids only bothered getting up once for it. Lunch menu is small and salads are dreadful. There are many nice restaurants serving lunch outside, cheaper and super yummy. Pool is too small and warm from 11am so not very refreshing. However a great base, close to everything and we had a wonderful break.

Il start with the positives: Good location Clean Good size rooms Outdoor Pool area immaculate Breakfast very good Caesar salad in poolside restaurant was very nice Reasonably priced drinks If service is something you enjoy this hotel is not for you. I have never stayed anywhere with such rude, obnoxious staff. There was a gentleman who worked on the evening hotel bar (I didn’t get his name) who was lovely & Catalina on the pool bar was a pleasure. The rest wow Rude rude rude and don’t bother going to reception to discuss because they do not care. Towels are given if you have a towel card that nobody tells you about on check in, once you’ve got a towel card don’t expect a towel because there must be about 10 for all guests. When you approach the towel counter and ask for a towel you will simply be told ‘none left’ and that’s it they wouldn’t consider ensuring more will come. Breakfast is served until 10:30 don’t bother going in at 10:30 (we didn’t but was still in the restaurant after 10:30 to witness) at 10;37 you will be approached with ‘we are closed you need to leave’ in a very stern tone, I saw people having their plates taken off them with food they were still eating if you had a coffee you couldn’t then sit and finish or if you did the staff did their best to make you feel uncomfortable including turning the lights off what the heck! There is an iron to use but reception will say ‘I don’t know where it is’ I’ll help you out it’s on level 4. The hotel bar doesn’t open until 4pm, one afternoon we were waiting for a taxi at 2pm 30 degrees and simply wanted a drink whilst waiting, not possible! The waitresses & bar man on the pool side restaurant were the worst!!!!! The attitude of this place is anything but inviting welcoming or accommodating & despite a fantastic 4 day break in palma out of everything we did it was the biggest let down of our trip.

MARINA PORTALS.... Yes it really is a wonderful hotel...such good value for money...the position is perfect.. it truly is a "perfect hotel" in fact it really has spoilt us , we do go to other hotels staying in 4/5 star accomodation ,but as yet none, at least for us, has the same magic as Marina Portals, the hotel is a good 4 star standard, extremely clean and kept in good order ..and that includes every department, it has a good manager in Miguel and all the staff are courteous.. helpful..cheery and friendly. we stay B & B and the breakfast really is first class..Highly recommended and last year the outside had a re-vamp making it even better.. we stay two or three times a year and see lots of return guests who obviously feel the same as us about the Marina Portals.
