We stayed as a couple in late December, just after Christmas. Our room was on the second floor overlooking the shared swimming pool area on the ground floor. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by the lovely reception staff, who showed us the room details. The room featured a spa tub on the balcony, which we enjoyed. However, the hotel itself felt a bit outdated and old-fashioned. While the room was reasonably comfortable, we noticed some wear and tear, like chipped and scratched surfaces in the bathroom amenities and signs of overall poor maintenance. Also, the spa tub was not well-cleaned, with visible dirt and mould in the crevices, which was disappointing. Overall, while the staff were welcoming and the room had its enjoyable aspects, the lack of upkeep in the facilities detracted from our experience.

Absolutely not a 4.5* hotel. Very disappointed on arrival. No reception open after 6pm so on arrival at 6:10 we were stuck outside waiting 20 mins for someone to answer the phone to provide check in details. Room is outdated, scruffy, smells damp and black mould everywhere. Blinds were broken, and apparently you don't get any house keeping for stays less than 8 days! The pool is unheated so pretty cold and dirty. The staff on reception blamed the private owners for all the faults but weren't willing to do anything about it. We feel very mis sold as their website says 4.5* spa hotel. It just means there are 'spa baths' on the terraces. The location is good next to the main street and beach but that's the only redeeming quality. Was really looking forward to a nice few days at the end of a long trip only to be let down by Mantra

Fantastic service. We had some maintenance issues, but they were fixed immediately, and also received bubbles for the inconvenience. A special thank you for the manager Thomas. Very attentive staff, and perfect location.

Good location but be aware the pool is not heated (20 degrees - water at the beach 24!) We were so excited to leave the Melbourne's cold and dive into the warm pool water from our poolside room. In my opinion it was not worth the money - particularly for the poolside apartments in Winter - as the water is too cold to swim. I did end up having a long talk with Tamas (Front Office Manager) who was lovely. I believe they are in the process of upgrading but although the hotel is managed by Mantra it is run through a body corporate and private owners so this comes with some complexity.

We stayed at Mantra Aqueous for 12 nights and cannot say enough about how wonderful the experience was. The swim out pool room was fabulous and thoroughly enjoyable, even though the pool was a little chilly on impact you just had to count to 5 and it is winter after all. The staff couldn't do enough for you and nothing was too much. They were all super friendly. Nice and close to Macrossan St and all it offers and the beautiful 4-mile beach which we walked often. The kitchen was dark and poorly equipped, and also had dirty stains in the cutlery drawer. It wasn’t an inviting kitchen. The pool was too cold to swim in July ( unheated) The rooms decor was bland and felt more like a dormitory than a $500/night room Whilst the staff were pleasant , I don’t think the price we paid for staying here is justified.

Booked in for 13 nights , pool freezing ,adults and children were complaining , room smelt musky after being away for sightseeing , pool does not look like what is in photos needs a good update .2 coffee capsules supplied with coffee machine if we wanted any more we could purchase more at front desk . I defrosted fridge after 2 days as freezer was full of ice . Had to go to front desk for toilet rolls and fresh towels , not what you would expect for $300 plus night motel. Side lamp and seat were not that clean . When asked by people where we were saying I was embarrassed and had o tell the truth ,been to Port Douglas on 6 occasions this has been he worst accommodation

Fantastic location, and exceptional staff, the manager Thomas was very helpful, and the housekeeping cleaned the room very well. We stayed here in July, and will be back next year. One of the best Mantras we have stayed in, however the rooms can vary, and some could use refurbishment. The pools are not heated, but luckily it didnt bother us.
