Peppers Beach Club Port Douglas

There’s no question that this place is idyllic: it could even be a romantic getaway - if there are no children staying here! Peppers is a haven for parents with babies, toddlers and kids up to the age of 8 - and at times it can be very noisy. The sandy lagoon style swimming pool has a shallow side which is ideal for making sandcastles - while parents watch easily on the lounges or splash around with various toys left behind for children to poach from each other with selfish parents not batting an eyelid! But Peppers is an ideal short distance to the lifeguard monitored beach - where you can hire two beach lounges and umbrella for $50 all day. It’s a similar short walk to Macrossan Street which has a terrific variety of shops and restaurants. Special mention to the Jade Inn - fabulous Chinese food. And the local pizza place just behind ‘Shakes’ ice-cream! You will need to scout around for other places to eat as the menu at Peppers is limited and repetitive. Be mindful when you book as to whether your room/apartment is upstairs - as lifts are not installed everywhere. Also inquire about the poolside rooms that have their own private pool deck: they are situated on the other side of the pool and get more sun (if that’s what you want!). That said, the staff here are fabulous! It’s very much an international team of young people from UK & Europe who flock to FNQ from southern states’ winters.
