Freestyle Resort Port Douglas

We stayed at this property in Port Douglas and had an overall enjoyable experience. The location is fantastic, the staff were warm and welcoming, and the rooms were clean and reasonably comfortable. The pool setup is beautiful and feels like a little oasis, though the water temperature was a bit too warm to fully enjoy. The shower pressure was excellent, and the air conditioning kept the room cool, even if it did rattle slightly. However, the property feels more like serviced apartments than a resort. There’s no housekeeping, minimal amenities (just a vending machine), and the photos on the website showing food options and other amenities were a little misleading. Storage was limited, with no drawers, hangers, or luggage racks, which made unpacking a bit tricky. Parking was the biggest challenge—the provided garage was often full and hard to navigate, so we ended up parking on the street a block away. Privacy in the two-bedroom unit was also a bit lacking, with slatted doors and no door on the bathroom, which might be an issue for some. That said, this is a charming and special place and a good value. If you’re looking for a clean, budget-friendly option in a stunning location and don’t mind a few tradeoffs, it’s definitely worth it.

Spacious apartment, great balcony, wifi, large TV. Pool & spa was heated, set in beautiful gardens. Close to central PtDouglas, quiet, peaceful, relaxing.

Family trip to port Douglas We had a wonderful stay at the Freestyle resort. The owners could not do enough to help us. Their communication before and during our stay was fantastic. We had a family room (2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms) which was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed with a lovely balcony overlooking the pool. Free underground parking, a laundry, a a few mins walk into town. Across the road from the beach and safe swimming area. Absolutely loved it!

Had a great stay recently at Freestyle. It's clean and comfortable and the rooms had everything we needed. Pool was heated, which was nice. Location is great, only a short walk to the beach and not much further to town. Anne was super helpful with information about where to eat, tours, transport and anything else we asked about. Would definitely stay her again.

We had an amazing stay at Freestyle Resort! We booked a 2-bedroom hotel room. The room was a duplex with 2 separate bathrooms. The rooms were really beautiful, spacious and clean and we had a nice terrace, we had everything we needed! The swimming pool was great and there were laundry facilities. The hotel is very well located, on walking distance from the city center. Anne was extremely friendly and helpful, she gave us many recommendations and advice. I definitely recommend this place!
