We stayed at the Main Lodge of Kariega Game Reserve for two nights in February and had the most incredible time of our lives. From start to finish, everything was simply perfect. The insights we gained about nature and its wonders over those three days are truly indescribable. We were left breathless when we saw lions in the evening sun. We had high hopes for this stay, and it exceeded every expectation. Moreover, my daughter and I are gluten intolerant, and never before have we experienced such seamless gluten-free accommodations. From breakfast to dinner, we were always provided with gluten-free alternatives. I was immensely impressed, as many five-star establishments in big cities often fail to meet our dietary needs effectively. The lodge itself is extraordinary, but it’s the staff that truly embodies the spirit of hospitality. We are already hoping to return next year for another magical experience. Thank you, Kariega Main Lodge, for making our stay unforgettable!

We had a wonderful stay at Kariega game reserve. The staff were friendly and made us feel welcome. Our guide Daniel was excellent, he made the game drives fun and informative. We really appreciated the effort he made to make the most of our time there. Amazing experience - main lodge, food, service was great.

It was great at all. We were very sorry to leave again after great days. We would recommend further in every time. The service was great, the food was awesome, the hotel lodge itself was amazing and the safari tours were unbelievable.

We spent 4 days at Main Lodge, Kariega from 01 - 04 Aug. We’re a family of 4 with 2 children aged 14 and 10. We have no hesitation to say that every aspect of our stay exceeded our expectations. We were housed in a very comfortable 3 bedroom chalet with stunning views across the forests and hills. Daily visits from the housekeepers kept it spotless. The breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets provided plenty of delicious, wholesome dishes served by permanently smiling, polite staff. The safari drives were just brilliant, escorted by the superb Amber. Her ability to identify birds and animals by sight or call was amazing. Her knowledge on animal and bird behaviour was also excellent. The above was delivered with fantastic enthusiasm to educate all in her happy group, whatever their age. We can’t imagine a better guide. The reserve is huge with a variety of environments. We were lucky enough to see a long list of different animals and birds which included lions, rhinos, buffalo, cheetah and elephant. Can’t recommend this place enough.

A fantastic location. Great hotel. When it's windy, however, you notice that you're staying in a tent, as the fabric flaps loudly up and down. The tent lodges are incredibly well equipped and spacious. The entire staff is simply fantastic. We loved our ranger. But we were surprised that he sat at our table during dinner. The fact itself is perfectly fine, we just would have liked to have been informed about it beforehand. For me, it was exhausting to make small talk in English. I would have liked to have had some privacy with my family and been able to speak German. However, this has absolutely nothing to do with the person/ranger. He was really great, extremely polite, and above all competent.

Incredible! Our safari ranger, Matthew, was very kind and was very good at explaining facts to everyone, especially the kids. The highlight was being less than three metres away from a lion! We saw countless animals like zebras, giraffes, antelope, rhinos, elephants, ostriches and even a mother hippo and her baby! The food was great, accommodation was beautiful, the staff were all very friendly and welcoming, the safaris were great and it was so much fun for everyone in the family. Definitely recommend!
