Een prettig hotel vanwege de ligging, het uitzicht, de tuin en het personeel. Leuk kadootje was de feestavond op vrijdag avond met dj op het dakterras. Toch vind ik dit hotel niet 4 Sterren waardig. Dus n paar tips vooral op hygiëne en netheid, die volgens mij eenvoudig op te lossen zijn. Putlucht in badkamer Loslatende rubbers en vuile kitranden Beddengoed met vlekken Loszittende wc bril Slechts 1 stopcontact op hele kamer Gebroken slot op de kamer deur Kapotte tegels op het balkon Niet functionerende lift (al bijna n jaar zo) Beperkte parkeergelegenheid boven Vetranden (geel) in binnen zwembad Turkstoombad heeft schimmel Taxi service (ivm gebroken lift) niet altijd beschikbaar Zwembad bar niet binnen handbereik en vaak onbemand Eten in restaurant niet consistent en vaak lauw

Really interesting building, with access to the various levels via external escalators. An intriguing Bond villain vibe! The staff were all lovely, facilities were very good, and the rooms were simple but pleasant. The spa area was sometimes a little understaffed, but the pool was very nice and clean, with beautiful views. The restaurant was excellent, as was the breakfast. Overall a really nice stay!

J’ai adoré, l’hôtel est magnifique et les infrastructures sont top. On y dort très bien, on avait une chambre vue océan qui était juste sublime. Le restaurant était vraiment top, avec un petit déjeuner royal et des plats au dîner succulent. Un hôtel que je recommande vraiment avec un personnel super sympa.

This hotel setting is incredible however be prepared to walk for ages and take up to three lifts to get to your room! Reception is after the lift from the car park entrance and is manned by good friendly professional staff. Breakfast is up one floor from there and was ok without being exceptional. The second lift takes you further up the cliff(with lovely gardens) , across a walkway and onto the third lift to the room. The room was a good size, functional,as was the bathroom. Both could do with a little tlc. Two single beds, pushed together, made the double. They were firm but relatively comfortable. Porto do Sol is very nice with a great array of good restaurants. We ate twice at the Caprice ,which was excellent. Parking is in a small narrow car park and is not nearly enough for all the guest rooms. Roadside parking is also available but on a road frequented by large truck traffic, through the day. Finally the views across the ravine and down to the sea are what makes this hotel stand out as do the sunsets which were amazing.

Wir waren davor im Norden für 4 Nächte danach für 5 Nächte in diesem Hotel. Das Hotel lebt von der Lage, das war dann so ziemlich alles. Es ist in die Jahre gekommen, alles alt, Betten, Möbel und Badezimmer. Bettwäsche hatte Löcher, auch das Badetuch, sowas geht gar nicht. Trinkwasser wurde nie aufgefüllt. Bei starkem Regen lief das Wasser ins Zimmer. Frühstück ok, auch das Abendessen war gut, aber der Raum hat absolut keine Atmosphäre, dafür Aussicht. Wir sind Hundebesitzer, trotzdem beim Empfang hat kein Hund etwas zu suchen. Nicht jeder mag Hunde, oder haben eine Allergie. Für die Angestellten sicher toll wenn man seine Hunde zur Arbeit mitbringen kann, dann aber ausserhalb der Reception platzieren. Wieso ist die Innenbeleuchtung der Lifte in rot? Wer wohl den Dufterfrischer im Lift ausgesucht hatte…. Nochmals, Lage mega, Rest vergessen. Das Hotel hat wirklich Potential, aber es müsste einiges gemacht werden.

Stunning setting set in the cliff side and fabulous architectural design let down by poor service and the place being generally rundown. The hotel could be fabulous but when we stayed it was a mediocre experience with surly service and a lack of attention to detail. Rooms are fine (great sea view for those that have them) but basic and not very clean. Bathrooms are disappointing with very basic product. Everything just felt fun down and unloved. Poor broken beds by the pool with old cushions, for example. Cheap furniture elsewhere. Service was poor. We booked three sea view rooms six months in advance only to be told on arrival that one room was not available due to ‘a mistake’. No apology. And generally lack of inclination to help. Bright spot: an excellent breakfast.

We loved our stay at this beautiful hotel in Ponta Do Sol. Felt like a resort! Gorgeous grounds, pool and spa. Many spaces to sit and enjoy a drink. The views are exceptional throughout the hotel. Breakfast was amazing and offered a great variety. We highly recommend a stay here if visiting PDS

A great place - set in the cliff tops with amazing views. Great spa facilities, large comfortable beds, superb food, and friendly and efficient staff. The free shuttle buses/taxis to and from the airport, local walking areas and Funchal, meant we didn't have to hire a car, and there were also free e-bikes which were great. Ponta do Sol is quiet, but there are a few bars/restaurants which served great food.
