Excellent and no words can hide the beauty of the hotel transformation from Old hospital. Good location for easy commute and connecting all travels. We recommend this hotel.

We stayed at the Vila Galé São Miguel Hotel and had an excellent experience from start to finish. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, the hotel spotless and well maintained, and all the staff showed genuine kindness and hospitality. Breakfast offered a good selection to start the day, but the real highlight was dinner — especially the live cooking, with dishes freshly prepared right in front of us. The cook (whose name, unfortunately, I don’t remember) did an excellent job — everything was tasty and perfectly cooked. A special thank you to the restaurant team, always attentive and professional — they truly make a difference! And of course, we can’t forget Gonçalo, the hotel manager, who seems to work 24 hours a day — always around, helpful, and ready to assist with a smile.

The hotel rooms were very comfortable and clean. We had a balcony room, which was nice to sit out on. Note that the balconies are not private, so other guests can access rooms through the balcony doors if not locked. Not a big deal but something to keep in mind. There were a few things that we found to take away from a great experience. For example, we had to request an in-room coffee maker and were required to pay 1 Euro for every Nespresso pod. Bottled water was also an extra charge (they do provide one small bottle on the first day). On our last morning we had a 7:30AM departure so needed to eat breakfast right at 7AM, which is the time breakfast opened. The doors opened late and the staff member on duty was not very nice about having to open the doors because the buffet was not quite ready. Finally, as we were trying to get our luggage down to the lobby, the elevators were turned off. So we had to take the stairs when we were in a hurry to check out.

The hotel is situated at the downtown tourist area on the waterfront ! Very beautiful and clean with English speaking staff at the front desk . The rooms are clean and the beds are comfy! The breakfast buffet is delicious and has a lot to offer including an omelette/ fried egg/ pancake chef ! The outside pool and area is huge with pool chairs and towels! The indoor pool / gym / sauna / Turkish steam bath is just right with beds and towels ! Overall a fantastic stay and would recommend highly ! We travelled 4 Adults 1 Child ( 2 rooms ) 5⭐️

I had booked Vila Gale Collection S.Miguel for a stay in the Azores in September. Two days after booking the hotel I had to cancel trip when my mother’s health unexpectedly declined and she was admitted to palliative care. I cancelled the trip within 48 hours of booking it and am being charged a $207 US dollar cancelation fee. The lack of understanding and willingness to waive the cancellation fee is ridiculous. When we do reschedule, we will not be staying at your hotel.

Pros: -excellent breakfast -Lovely pool. Very upscale and modern. Secluded in that it’s in the middle of the hotel. So views are of the surrounding rooms, but they did a good job. The pool can be cold so best to go when it’s sunny. The pool chairs are super comfy. -great amenities. Had every amenity you could want-safe, hairdryer, slippers, robe, hair products etc -Front desk was great. Dry cleaning was also very fast and very cheap. - Close to downtown but not in the middle of downtown so it’s quiet at night. Right across the street from the castle. Cons - No early check-in so we had to wander around for a few hours until the room was ready. Did take a nice nap by the pool and the lounge chairs are very comfy. - bar is good but small. The servers are fantastic (major pro) I would definitely recommend this hotel
