Hilton Vacation Club the Point at Poipu Kauai

We’ve been Hilton grand vacation for over 20 years and we enjoyed every stay until today when we are in Kauai. This was a double diamond being converted to Hilton for about 3 years now. But, the construction, workers culture, interior and exterior have nothing to do with do with Hilton. Accommodation has no air conditioning other than bed rooms. Some of the furniture are ancient. I asked for a rice cooker and they said they have limited quantities and put me on a waiting line. Shame for Hilton.

We were here for a week and for the price we paid, I do NOT feel it is worth it. I see the other reviews and I have to agree with the others. The manager does respond on here but I doubt it goes any further than a fluffy service response. PROS: Location is great. Close to walking trails, close drive to stores and restaurants. Staff is friendly. The grounds (garden) are well kept. Size of the units are large and having a washer/dryer and kitchen is awesome. CONS: COCKROACHES! We were in a couple different rooms through our stay and we say cockroaches in ALL OF THEM. We had to buy roach traps for our room. Building is falling apart. We were in an updated room which was just really a landlord special. Thick globs of paint over old peeling paint, new floors and cabinets were nice. New furniture too but it was all cheap. All but 1 of the receptacles in the kitchen were not working in an updated unit. LOUD. This was almost unbearable. So much so that we decided to move 2 different times when rooms became available. If you’re not on the top floor, good luck. I had to wear earplugs every night to relax and sleep which defeats the purpose of listening to the ocean… Pool is boring. It’s super shallow and just like a duck pond. The place looks like a retirement home that’s falling apart. All the kitchen utensils are from the dollar tree and cheap cooking pans. We had to buy a $50 stainless frying pan from Costco to make sure we weren’t cooking on horribly scratched cheap teflon pans. If I’m going to pay $500 per night, I’ll choose a better resort.
