Pipestone Inn

We stayed here for 1 night towards the end of a long road trip around the US. Wenstayed in sone reasonably expensive and some reasonably cheap hotels.... by and large yu get what you pay for. This is an exception.... you dont get anywhere near that. Arriving late in the evening we had to buzz an intercom to gain entry and (after an eternity) a slovenly guy shuffled out to let us in and check us in. Painfully slowly and unwelcoming. Choosing the room key the guy seemed uncertain... then after wandering along the dilapedated corridor he knocked on the door before opening it to let us in. A sceptic would suggest they are letting their mates or customers use rooms on an unofficial basis for some reason and they arent sure which rooms have been "sub let". Room was as dingy as the corridor. Layer of dust that had been there months on the door key mechanism - curtain hanging off - air con sounded like a WW1 biplane manouvering to land - sheets more grey than white - just cruddy. You may think I overexagerate - and enjoy writing an awfull review out of fun or as apower trip - but i have reviewed hundreds and hundreds of hotels and this really was one of the worst. Good points ? Wifi was ok.... cant remember if breakfast was included or not but we couldnt wait to leave and theres a McDonalds next door for a breakfast as we certainly wouldnt have risked one at this place. Cruddy. Even for the relativey cheap price its cruddy.

Employees friendly, helpful. Needs updating, remodeling badly. Make sure to use a third party for reservations. Cost $20 first night. Second night I made reservation online. I had to stay for bad weather.
