A very dated hotel and not 5 star. On arrival it took almost two hours before my room was ready which was not good after a long flight from the UK. Reception staff actually quite rude and appear not their fault so looks badly managed. Air conditioning was great in the room so thank you for that. Sun beds in the shade are limited by the main pool as the hotel sells day packages to the locals - I spoke to some which confirmed this, is a very bad error of judgement by hotel management as guests paying huge money struggle to find a good place to relax. Shame on the management to promote this . Showers in the room hardly work. Had severe food poisoning on one night. Not good if you are single. Lack of information about water sports. No nice beach. Would not recommend. In short all travel companies should delist this hotel .

Recently returned from this wonderful resort, our 8th visit. We had an amazing time as always. Royal Suites are great and really appreciated being able to use the adults only pool that the suite residents are able to use. There were some changes to the format in the restaurants which in the main was better, Docksider now A la Carte some evenings which made a nice change but sad that the menu at 11-11 had changed drastically and no longer serving the beautiful salads as in previous years so we only ended eating there once. That being said, there is more choice at the beach grill, every meal we had there was delicious. The coffee shop was still at high standard and lovely to see JoeAnn again! It was great to be able to get rolls there at lunchtime when we didn’t fancy anything heavy. Wine has also changed for the better. The staff remain the gems of this resort, everyone is friendly and lovely to be remembered by many of them. Special shout out to Judy, Michael, Cora, Tryphena, Renita,Elvira, Oran,Cressida, Quivern, Luenda, Chad, Omar and Denitia - thank you for making our stay so special!! Cannot wait to return next year.

April 2025, stayed in Hibiscus block : clean & spacious with comfortable beds and working a/c. Housekeeping cleaned every other day as promised. There was seagrassum on the ocean side & it was cleared every morning. This is a natural occurrence and the hotel do their best to clear it - check the season independently of your travel agent before booking. Food is variable but plenty of choice. Yes there were queues for dinner in Docksider - simple solution was to eat earlier or later. Catering staff on the whole were really helpful and personable - a few really did go out of their way especially Michael at breakfast. Entertainment is ‘light’ which suited us. Cove beach was beautiful and there were a nice number of pools. Wi-fi works well. Excellent and reasonable hire car and a really easy location to travel around the island from. We went to Darkwood & Fyres beaches, the Zipline adventure & Stingray city independently - met some amazing locals and had some great food too! To make the most of your holiday do your research on the area, season etc. The hotel can’t be blamed for seagassum or no public transport etc. However the resort management should be embarrassed about: Allowing onsite Taxi’s to be a ripoff!! Using the gift shop to fleece residents. $9 for 30 Q-tips! And I was charged USD 3 to post a postcard using a 75 cent Antiguan stamp! Letting residents reserve Reef pool sunbeds at breakfast and then not use them till after lunch. The inconsistency in guest relations at reception - at times the team were downright rude. Allowing birds to peck at uncovered food and fly around indoors. We witnessed this at breakfast, lunch and dinner for the first two days and escalated it to the Virgin rep. Shortly afterwards net covers appeared in the breakfast self serve area but there should be a full review of how food and tables are cleared. It’s one star at best The management team also need to stop using AI when replying to these reviews and actually do something about the issues consistently raised. All in all it was a very mixed bag - would I recommend St James? Maybe - as long as you manage your expectations.

Rooms are dated and dirty, as is the resort in general. Food was a complete letdown, with very little choice. We booked a package holiday with BA and, after 4 days, checked out and went to another resort. The seaweed was a real problem, and we were unable to use the beaches. The smell was awful. The newly appointed manager Ryan tried his very best to remedy the situation, but unfortunately, it just wasn't enough.

We recently had a fabulous family trip with a party of 14 from grandparents all the way down to our 18th month old baby boy. Mamora bay is quite a site when driving into the resort. We enjoyed amenities including the great restaurants and sporting facilities where we had a family Pickleball tournament. The staff were so attentive and helpful while also making us feel like their family. 10/10

St James was a nice place but definitely not the Caribbean experience we were expecting. The beach was super small and basically unusable due to seaweed. Our older kids were really bored, as there is basically only Kayaking and a couple of pools to keep them occupied. The food options were limited but what they had was very good. The massages at the spa were also A+. Whatever St James was lacking, though, was made up by the amazing staff, across the board. A special shoutout to Amie from the Rainbow Garden restaurant whose lovely personality and service brightened our breakfasts every day. Thanks Amie!
